QAF FC battle to a draw

     Fadhil Yunus

QAF FC battled back to earn a creditable 2-2 draw against LLRC FT in the DST Super League at the Tutong Sports Complex last night.

Hardy Anak Bujang popped up with the crucial header reacting to a flick-on by a QAF FC player to earn a share of the spoils.

The lively Md Hakeem bin Keri had earlier given LLRC the perfect response after conceding to a scrappy goal getting the end of a perfectly weighed cross with a stunning finish.

The LLRC fans had a decent view of their friends in action and Md Hakeem did not disappoint creating all sorts of problems in the wing alongside partner-in-crime Md Ghazi bin Hj Ismawi.

Md Ghazi broke free after finding acres of space but QAF FC’s goalkeeper Ak Sharil Muiz bin Pg Hashim did enough to put him off balance.

LLRC had decent chances to grab a winner but they may have been considered fortunate not to be awarded a penalty against them as QAF FC was left aggrieved by some disputable refereeing.

LLRC’s Md Fakhrul Amin bin Sanif produced an excellent reaction save to deny Mohd Adie Arsham to score from close range but it was an earlier move where a defender allegedly handled that left the QAF FC player storming into the referee’s attention.

The second controversial decision saw Mohd Adie Arsham avoiding the ball from passing out of the byline and allegedly hit a defender’s arm but the man in the middle waived the penalty appeals much to the dismay of the QAF FC’s players.

With all the action- packed performance in the second half, it felt quite a long time since Md Ghazi had earlier opened proceedings for LLRC in a 5th minute lead.

MS ABDB win to heap pressure on leaders

     Fadhil Yunus

MS ABDB boosted their hopes of pursuing table topping Indera SC at the summit of the DST Super League following a crucial 1-0 win against arch rivals MS PDB at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium last night.

The match had been rescheduled at a rare venue for a league tie as the match official and assistant referees became subjects of assessment under the microscope of the visiting AFC Referee Instructor Okada Masayoshi.

Suhaimi bin Hj Md Yussof’s 18th minute penalty proved the match-winner.

The army side was left unpunished when MS PDB failed to capitalise a defensive error from only three yards out.

Mohd Mazazizi bin Mazlan brilliantly laid a clever pass to Abd Azizi bin Ali Rahman whose shot bounced off the post much to the relief of the police side.

MS ABDB dominated in the second half with their fierce rivals barely seeing the ball though did not make the most of their chances.

Mohd Mazazizi produced a man-of-the match performance creating havoc with his pinpoint deliveries. His finishing did not match, however, as he scuffed his shot well wide from a promising position.

Under the watchful eye of Okada, the referee did not allow play to continue when a MS ABDB’s player was in possession of the ball and instead pulling the ball back for a foul.

Both MS ABDB and MS PDB remained second and third respectively in the DST Super League.

Jerudong FC raih kemenangan pertama

 http://mediapermata.brunei-online.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/PAGE24_3005023153340.jpg

MS ABDB kutip tiga mata penuh

 http://mediapermata.brunei-online.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/PAGE21_2705023201698.jpg

QAF FC, LLRC FT berkongsi mata lagi

 http://mediapermata.brunei-online.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/PAGE21_2705023207907.jpg

MS ABDB hunting for goals

Tuesday, May 27, 2014

THE Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) manager Major (A) Pg Mohd Mufid Pg Umar Ariffin has called on his players to deliver more goals if they are to win the DST Super League this season.

The army men have collected 28 points after 13 games and are only one point behind league leaders Indera Sports Club (SC) - the defending champions who still have two games in hands.

MS ABDB’s last game saw them defeat the Royal Brunei Police Forces Sports Council (MS PDB) 1-0 at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium on Sunday, with defender Suhaimi Hj Mohd Yussof getting his name onto the score sheet in the win.

Despite the win, the manager was left ruing his side’s missed chances – especially since MS PDB had a man sent off just before the breather.

“When MS PDB were reduced to 10 players following a red card just before the half-time break, I expected my players to score more goals,” said the manager in an interview with The Brunei Times yesterday.

“We scored early in the first half and played well by creating chances... But failed to increase the lead.

“We did not take advantage of (our numerical advantage) in the second half and most of our chances were wasted away with poor finishing.

“We have no problems with creating play and chances in the game, but we have not been very lucky in front of the goal this season.

“Our strikers need to find their form and start to score again if we want to win the tournament this year.

They need to take their chances every time,” he insisted.

Taking their chances or not, MS ABDB still lead the league in goals having scored 32 times this season - Indera have netted 27 times.

Though Major (A) Pg Mohd Mufid was pleased with the result against the policemen, the manager was not impressed by his players’ performance on Sunday night.

The manager also felt that the other teams’ improving standard means that MS ABDB will have to be firing on all cylinders if they are to taste success this campaign.

“Indera and other teams are getting better this season and we must work hard to keep up with them,” he said.

“It is always very nice to get three points in a difficult game like this, but I was not happy with the way we played.

“However, we have won three games in a row now.

“It is a very good run of form and I hope that we will be able to continue that,” he added.

MS ABDB teruskan momentum

.
Kedudukan bertambah selesa buat MS ABDB enam minit kemudian apabila Abdul Azizi bin Ali Rahman pula mencetak gol ketiga dan keselesaan itu semakin bertambah dengan jaringan Md Khairul Mee bin Mail pada minit ke-73.

 http://mediapermata.brunei-online.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/PAGE22_2205023236714.jpg

Kilanas, LLRC FT berkongsi satu mata

 http://mediapermata.brunei-online.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/PAGE23_2105023209637.jpg

THE National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) has suspended Majra United captain Faizal Mohammad from all football activities for five years starting from May 14, 2014.

Faizal was found guilty of assaulting the referee during their DST Super League match against Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) on Tuesday.

MS ABDB had comeback from a 1-0 halftime deficit to lead 3-1 before being awarded a penalty in the 59th minute at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

Faizal voiced his discontent and shoved the referee for the decision. But before the latter could pull out the red card from his pocket, he was knocked out by the Majra United player, resulting in the game being abandoned.

Majra United were also fined $500 for negligence in managing the team and their rowdy supporters during the match.

In addition, MS ABDB were awarded a 3-0 victory based on Article 57 of NFABD Disciplinary Code.
This was determined by the Disciplinary Committee yesterday after investigations on the matter.

As stated in a press statement, NFABD “takes a serious view on the incident and will not condone such behaviour”.

Majra United assistant manager Hj Mahadi Hj Matzin was disappointed that it happened to his team but knows that they have to move on from the incident.

“We accept the punishment that has been given to us. Our player should be responsible for his actions and accept the ban,” said Hj Mahadi in an interview with The Brunei Times yesterday.

“We, as the management of the team, know the rules of FIFA as well. We knew that the push on the referee would have been a red card.

“But things happened suddenly and it is unfortunate that it happened with our team,” he said.

“We cannot control the things that are happening outside of the pitch though. The organisers should look into it and provide security for every match in a big tournament such as the Super League,” he added in regards to the behaviour of the supporters.

“For now we are waiting for things to cool down (before) motivating the players because there are games still to be played,” continued Hj Mahadi.

MS ABDB manager Major (A) Pg Muhd Mufid Pg Hj Umar Ariffin had mixed feelings despite being awarded the three points.

“We will have to accept the three points and the scoreline as decided by the committee,” said Major (A) Pg Muhd Mufid.

“I believed that we would have dominated the game and scored more goals had we continued to play,” he said.

“But in the end at least we did get all three points and kept up with leaders Indera SC,” he said.

Defending champions Indera SC are currently on 29 points from 11 matches with the armymen following in second place with 22 points to their name.

Majra United are second to the bottom of the 10-team table with five points.

Indera SC lebarkan jurang

Football match abandoned after referee ‘punched’

     Fadhil Yunus

A DST Super League match between Majra FC and MS ABDB was abandoned after a Majra player allegedly “knocked out” a referee at the Track and Field Sports Complex last night.

Majra FC, sitting second from bottom in the 10-team league, may face severe punishment following the alleged incident which halted the game after only 59 minutes of play.

MS ABDB was leading 3-0 when a player was apparently impeded in the box. Before the referee could make a decision, the player in question shoved and allegedly punched the referee who fell to the ground.

The incident prompted intervention by a linesman who entered the pitch before the football authorities joined in. The referee who appeared to have lost consciousness had to be carried off on a stretcher.

Indera SC add to advantage

Tuesday, May 13, 2014

DEFENDING DST Super League champions Indera Sports Club racked up their ninth win in 11 matches when they went past Liang Lumut Recreation Club Football Team (LLRC FT) 2-1 last night.

They now enjoy an eight-point lead over their nearest rivals, the Royal Brunei Police Force Sports Council (MS PDB), who moved to second thanks to a 6-1 win over Kilanas FC on Sunday night.

Indera have 29 points from 11 games, the policemen 21.

LLRC FT are still sixth in the 10-team table, though a win for the Belait-based side could have seen them leapfrog fifth-placed Wijaya FC – who are only two points above them on 17 points
.
Mohd Zulkhairy Razali gave Indera a 19th minute lead at the break, but LLRC’s Ak Mohd Haikal Pg Zaidi would force a stalemate seven minutes after the restart at the Tutong Sports Complex.

In the end, Mohd Ikhmarol Izzat Hj Omar’s 71st minute strike was enough for the titleholders to secure all three points.

Najip FC benam QAF 2-1

Oleh Hasrulraizan

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 11 Mei – Najip FC kembali ke landasan betul bagi terus bersaing mendapatkan kedudukan tiga teratas Liga Super DST-NFABD apabila menang 2-1 ke atas QAF FC malam tadi dalam perlawanan pusingan kedua setelah perlawanan pusingan pertama antara keduanya berkesudahan 1-1.

Walaupun QAF FC mendahului 1-0 pada minit ke-30 menerusi sepakan penalti yang berjaya disempurnakan oleh Hardi Anak Bujang, kecuaian pertahanan QAF FC seminit kemudian membolehkan Najip FC mengikat kedudukan menjadi 1-1 hasil rembatan Abang Nor Sillmy bin Abang Haji Taha.

Kedudukan 1-1 kekal sehingga rehat, dan selepas rehat serangan bahaya lebih tertumpu di kawasan QAF FC, dengan mereka sesekali melakukan serangan balas pantas, namun kedua-dua pasukan masih gagal mendapatkan gol tambahan.

Pemain QAF FC, Md Hafis sedang membawa bola semasa perlawanan menentang Najip FC malam tadi.

Wijaya tambah derita Jerudong FC

 http://mediapermata.brunei-online.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/PAGE20-FC_1205023125468.jpg

Aksi cemerlang Marhazif Wijaya FC semasa menentang Jerudong FC, semalam.

Ketika perlawanan hampir tamat pada kedudukan 1-1, Jerudong FC melihat satu mata terlepas dari cengkamannya apabila pengadil sekali lagi menghadiahkan sepakan penalti kepada Wijaya FC
.

MS PDB move up to second in DST Super League

Monday, May 12, 2014

THE Royal Brunei Police Forces Sports (MS PDB) thrashed Kilanas FC 6-1 to move up to second place in the DST Super League last night.

Kilanas, meanwhile remain seventh in the 10-team table with six points.

The policemen have now recorded 20 points after 11 games and are currently six points behind leaders Indera Sports Club (SC) and a point ahead of third-placed Najip FC, who defeated QAF FC 2-1 on Saturday.

Contested at the Berakas Sports Complex, Jasriman Hj Johari bagged a hat-trick for MS PDB while Zulhamzi Hj Awang, Mohd Syarafuddin Hamdi Hj Talip and captain Rosmini Hj Abdul Kahar all found the net in the victory.

Jasriman opened the scoring in the fourth minute and made it 2-0 just three minutes later.

Zulhamzi set the scores at 3-0 in th 19th minute but a strike from Mohd Nor Hidayatullah Hj Zaini meant Kilanas entered the break trailing 3-1.

Skipper Rosmini added to his team’s comfortable lead with a 56th minute goal.

Jasriman then went on to bag his hat-trick with a goal five minutes from time to set the scoreboard at 5-1.

Mohd Syarafuddin then provided the icing on the cake with an 89 minute goal.

Action continues today with a match between Liang Lumut Recreational Club (LLRC) Football Team (FT).

The game kicks off at 8.15pm at the Tutong Sports Complex.

Najip FC edge QAF FC 2-1

     Fadhil Yunus

QAF FC missed the chance to climb to their peak position of the season in the DST Super League after going down to a 2-1 loss in the reverse fixture of the Najip FC game at the Berakas Sports Complex last night.

A win would have elevated a depleted QAF FC side to fourth and easily their best placing should Wijaya FC failed to stem their authority in the Jerudong FC game down the road at the Balapan Track and Field.

QAF FC was missing the services of Mardi Mirza bin Abdullah Bujang who was serving his suspension for collecting two yellow cards.

The returning Abang Nor Sillmy bin Abang Hj Taha of Najip FC tested QAF FC’s resolve with a header following an inch- perfect delivery from the brilliant Abd Azim bin Abd Rahman.

Mohd Adie Arsham bin Mohd Saleh was tripped in the box after reacting the quickest to a long ball. QAF FC’s stand-in captain Hardi Anak Bujang assumed the responsibility and converted the spot- kick.

The fans were used to seeing Abang Nor Sillmy dictating the midfield and covering every blade of grass but this tie manifested a player relieved of such duties and instead instructed to put the ball at the back of the net.

The lead barely lasted when Muhd Hanif @ Abd Hadi bin Hamir unleashed a fierce drive that Ak Sharil Muiz bin Pg Hashim could only punch away before Abang Nor Sillmy capped his return with a goal.

Abang Nor Sillmy demonstrated his scoring instincts with a volley but the keeper was able to make a save before an advancing player had time to pounce.

Micky Anak Gendi’s own goal all but dented QAF’s hopes for a victory but despite seeing their defence outstretched for most of the second half, they were nearly rescued after a brief revival.

Najip FC remained fourth in the DST Super League standings via goal difference with Wijaya FC, who won 2-1 against Jerudong FC in the other match.

Najip go 2nd after beating QAF

Sunday, May 11, 2014

NAJIP FC snatched all three points after a 2-1 victory over QAF FC in the DST Super League last night at the Berakas Sports Complex.

The victory pushes them up to second place in the 10-team table with 20 points from 11 matches.

Both teams had played out to a 1-1 draw in their first meeting at the same venue on Tuesday.

Najip FC took the lead yesterday through Abang Norsilmy Abang Hj Taha in the 11th minute.

The advantage was erased by Hardi Anak Bujang from the penalty spot on the half hour mark.

It took an own goal by Micky Anak Gendi in the 65th minute to separate the two sides last night.

QAF FC had given away a foul just outside of the box and the ensuing freekick taken by Abd Azim Abd Rahman deflected off Micky into his own goal.

Najip FC dominated ball possession and were pushing forward much of the second half.

They should have killed off the match completely in the 78th minute with Hj Khairol Anwar Hj Md Yaakub chipping the ball over QAF FC custodian Ak Sharil Muiz Pg Hashim only to see it go wide of the post.

QAF FC were desperately in search of an equaliser but Najip held their composure and soaked up the pressure in the last 10 minutes.

The only highlight upfront was when Micky tried to redeem himself in injury time with a well taken strike from outside the box but Najip keeper Ron Junior Philip ensured that the ball would not slip his hands.

Najip FC head coach Johari Hj Bungsu was glad to win all three points from the match.

“We came into the game looking for the win regardless of the score and I’m happy that we managed to do so,” said Johari in an interview with The Brunei Times after the victory.

“It is not easy to beat QAF FC especially since they have been around for a while already and played with good teamwork.

“We changed to a 4-4-2 formation for the match since we are short handed with key players out with injuries,” he added.

“We will continue to work hard and carry the momentum forward. It has been up and down for us but we’re looking to stay up (like the way we started the season),” continued Johari.

The other match saw Wijaya FC steal all three points from Jerudong FC with a 2-1 win at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

Abd Muhd Fakiri Abg Jaludin put Wijaya in front in the 32nd minute before Mohd Asnawi Syazni Abd Aziz equallised two minutes after halftime.

Abd Muhd Fakiri netted his second of the game in the 89th minute to see Wijaya grab the victory.

The competition continues today with Kilanas FC taking on the Royal Brunei Police Force Sports Council (MS PDB) at the Berakas Sports Complex at 8.15pm.

Azmanuddin wira Al-Idrus FT
