DST NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE 2011-2012 FIXTURE
ABDB, IKLS DRAW 1-1
Bandar Seri Begawan - IKLS and MS ABDB fought to a 1-1 draw in the fifth round of DST Brunei National Football League. Mohd Fakhri bin Ismail gave IKLS a strike in the 7th minute to give a shock to the Group C league leaders.
IKLS continued to press their opponents. However, a 38th minute goal from MS ABDB's Mohammed Khairuddin bin Abd Kadir cancelled out all their hard work.
In the second half, MS ABDB put tremendous pressure on the IKLS in search of the lead. With only three men at the back, MS ABDB bombarded the IKLS goal with non-stop attacks on both flanks.
Mohamed Amir Ajmal bin Mohamed Tahir and Mohammad Haizul gave IKLS a dreadful time with their well-timed crosses into the box and penetrating passes but IKLS keeper Norsahrul bin Hj Ibrahim was equal to the task.
IKLS were unfazed by their opponents' constant attacks and sent another striker, Md Sapri bin Hj Mohd Salleh, to look for another goal. However, in the 66th minute, a red card for Mohd Iswandi bin Abd Kadir for a second bookable offence forced IKLS to change to a defensive strategy
With the numerical advantage, MS ABDB enjoyed large spells of possession and play They pressed on and could have taken the lead had Budiman bin Jumat's freekick just outside the IKLS penalty area not sailed over the cross bar.
The IKLS defence would have been shred to pieces if not for the collective work of all members of the team, who rallied by their captain, Mohd Ariffin bin Haji Sulaiman and their hard working midfielder, Mohd Taufigillah bin Abd Hamid.
Hj Mohd Ali Rahman bin Hj Sulaiman, IKLS head coach, said he was delighted with his team's performance especially after having gone a man down in the second half He said, "Throughout the first half the team showed commitment and discipline so in the second half we sent another striker to win the game. Our team played a counter-attacking style as we continued to press our opponents. However, having lost a player, we had to change our approach. MS ABDB is a tough team and we are happy with the result."
Sergeant Saiful Riza bin Awang, Coach of MS ABDB, said they were not put off with the result. "We attacked a lot in the second half in search of the winning goal but I felt we were just unlucky" he said.
He added that they fielded some new players for this match to give them a chance to play and that they will continue to play and train hard for the next match against Sangsura FC in the sixth round of matches.
In another match, Kilanas FC beat Menglait FC with a 2 -1 score line at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.

10-man IKLS force group leaders MS ABDB to 1-1 drawThe DST National Football League race for the second round took another twist yesterday when leaders of Group C MS ABDB were held to a 1-1 draw by 10-man IKLS at the Balapan Track and Field in Berakas.
Awg Mohd Fakhri Ismail struck early for IKLS when his cross from the right in the 7th minute flew past MS ABDB's goalkeeper Muhammad Suhandi Hj Awang Mahal and into the back of the net.
But, the early goal didn't kill the armymen, who worked hard to find the equaliser.
IKLS were kept under pressure for most parts of the first half, but MS ABDB were let down by their poor finishes.
MS ABDB had the chance to equalise in the 10th minute after Md Iswandi Abd Kadir handled in the area to gift the armymen a penalty. But, Md Safari Wahit's shot was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Nor Sahrul Hj Ibrahim.
The armymen found it hard to penetrate the IKLS backline, marshalled superbly by centre-back Noraiman Hj Ibrahim.
Still MS ABDB marched forward forcing IKLS to drop back into their own half to defend their slim lead.
IKLS' strategy backfired when Md Khairuddin Abd Kadir made a clever run albeit from an offside position to connect with a through ball from Abd Azizi Ali Rahman and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to make it 1-1.
IKLS head coach, Hj Md Ali Rahman Hj Sulaiman, was furious that Md Khairuddin was not flagged for offside and that the goal in the 38th minute was given to MS ABDB.
"It was not difficult to tell he was offside ... the fans saw it and they too were unhappy with the decision," Hj Md Ali Rahman told The Brunei Times.
"I do not want to comment further about the decision, but he was obviously in an offside position. The goal should not be given.
"I am upset, but we have to accept the result. I always respect the officials, but they made a wrong decision today (Sunday)," he added.
"My boys played very well today, we managed to limit the opponents' movements and chances. In the second half, one of our players (Zulkifli Hj Mohammad) was red carded and we had to defend deep. We are happy with the draw."
Meanwhile, MS ABDB assistant manager Khalid Hj Bujang was unhappy with the performance of his players and said that the race for the second round was made even more difficult by yesterday's draw.
"It is difficult now. We only have two games left and we need to win all the games to make sure that we will qualify for the next round," Khalid said after yesterday's 1-1 draw.
"It was not a good game, it was not what we expected from the players. There were a lot of chances in the game, especially in the last 10 minutes, but the players failed to score," he added
Yesterday's other matches saw Setia Perdana draw with BIBD FC 1-1, Menglait FC lose to Kilanas FC 2-1, Perkasa defeat FC Phosphor 3-2 and MIISA United beat Youngsters FC 6-2.The Brunei Times

NIKE ETL 2.0
Lions XII becomes the first professional team in ASEAN to trial the Nike ETL 2.0
Lions XII became the first professional football team in South
East Asia to trial the Nike Elite Training Live (ETL) 2.0 system at the
Jurong Stadium, this evening.
The ETL 2.0 consists of three components that help coaches around the world assess their players’ fitness, skills and game play. The Chance finalists will also be trialed using the same Nike ETL 2.0 system. This will be one of the main components in deciding the winner.
“The ETL 2.0 is a consistent currency throughout the world and it aims to bridge the gap between professional footballers and amateurs,” said Siva Shanker Jayaraj, Nike South East Asia ETL Director.
“Nike aims to provide players with the technology and tools to improve their game and fulfill their full potential. This system also aims to inspire young aspiring footballers by making training interesting and competitive,” he added.
The USA National Women’s Football team and youth clubs also adopted the ETL 2.0 across Europe and South America. In Singapore, it has been tested in 10 schools and more than 2,000 young footballers have been trialed across South East Asia.
Lions XII head coach V.Sundramoorthy had recently teamed up with NIKE for their global search of football talents called The Chance. It’s country finals will be held on May 26 and 27 whereby five footballers will represent the Republic at the Regional Finals in Indonesia.
Four talented young footballers will be picked from the Regional Finals to represent South-East Asia at the Global Finals in Barcelona.
The LionsXII are on a break before the biggest game of the season on 4th of May against second-placed Kelantan in what could be a title-deciding match. It is currently sitting at the top of Malaysian Super League table.

Coach Sundram said: “The Nike ETL 2.0 is an authentic training system and is a significant step in improving our analysis of the players’ performances. I hope that this will help boost my team’s performance.”
