BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Rabu, 30 Januari.

MS PDB move into second spot

MS PDB beat eighth placed Kilanas FC 3-2 at the Berakas Track and Field Complex last night to move into second in the DST Super League standings.

Apo 6438 Khalid bin Mustapah opened the scoring in the 11th minute, and two minutes later teammate Cpl 4346 Rosmini bin Hj Abd Kahar found the back of the net to put MS PDB 2-0 up.

Kilanas FC skipper Kurmin @ Ridhwan bin Awg Hj Bini pulled one back before the break to restore some hope.

And in the 71st minute, Kilanas FC earned themselves a penalty, and who better to take the spot kick than Captain Kurmin, who duly beat the MS PDB goalkeeper to even the scores.

It was not meant to be for Kilanas FC, however, and despite a spirited fight back, all their good work was undone by Apo 6712 Md Syarafuddin Hamdi Talip, who struck what turned out to be the winner in the 74th minute.

ROYAL Brunei Police Forces Sports Council (MS PDB) edged Kilanas FC 3-2 in the DST Super League at the Balapan Track and Field at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas last night.

The win sees the policemen move into second position in the table with 13 points behind Indera SC who rank better only because of a better goal difference.

"It was a very important three points for us. We knew that if we win tonight, we will move above MS ABDB (Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council) into second place," said MS PDB coach Sahrin Hj Mohammad Jaya.

"Indera SC and MS ABDB both dropped points this week. I am very happy that we were able to close the gap to them," he told The Brunei Times last night.

"Even though we conceded two goals, I think our defenders played very well tonight. I am still not clear what happened in the penalty box. It seemed to me that my player (Aisamuddin Hj Yussof) made a very good shoulder to shoulder challenge," he said, in response to a penalty that was awarded to the opposing team in the second half.

"When we were 2-1 up, our players were a bit complacent. There were many chances and we could have won by a bigger margin. When Kilanas found their second goal, we were back into the game and thanks to our man of the match, Mohd Syarafuddin Hamdi, who scored the winning goal for us tonight."

MS PDB went ahead as early as the 11th minute when Khalid Mustapah headed in a captain Rosmini Hj Abdul Abdul Kahar's cross.

Captain Rosmini would double MS PDB's lead two minutes later, scoring from inside the penalty box after latching onto a long ball from the midfield to beat Kilanas' goalkeeper Mohammad Faisal Hashim in the goal.

The game looked lost for Kilanas but they would respond, pulling one goal back in the 39th minute after Ridwhan Awg Hj Bini took advantage of poor communication between two MS PDB centre backs before blasting the ball into the bottom corner.

The second-half saw Kilanas struggle to get back on term as they could not penetrate the MS PDB defence.

Naasiruddeen Abdul Wahab fired a free-kick just wide and Mohd Nurhidayatullah Hj Zaini came close to scoring for Kilanas when his close range header was brilliantly tipped over the bar by MS PDB's goalkeeper Mohd Khairul Amin Zainuddin.

Kilanas eventually found their second goal when referee Hj Rozaiman Aidit Hj Ibrahim awarded them a penalty in the 71st minute after Aisamuddin was believed to brought down Ridwhan inside the penalty box, and Ridhwan would step up to convert the penalty to put Kilanas back in the game.

Kilanas however seemed content to play out to a draw but Rosmini would put on a heroic effort when he scored a spectacular goal in the 74th minute in the form of a volley from just outside the penalty box.

MS ABDB dan MAJRA pertahankan rekod tanpa kalah

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Isnin, 28 Januari.

Tarmizi.
MS ABDB yang sering melakukan umpanan bola jauh selalu membuat pasukan Majra United FC merasa cemas sekalipun belum memperolehi sebarang jaringan.

Dua minit kemudian kedudukan kembali seimbang apabila sepakan percuma Shahremy berjaya merobek gawang Pasukan MS ABDB setelah bola yang disepaknya terkena ketua pasukan tentera, Sld Md. Safari yang secara langsung mengelirukan penjaga gol.

Abang Nor Silmy kembali meletakkan pasukan Majra United FC 2 - 1 di hadapan pada minit ke-76 melalui tandukannya sekalipun cuba dihadang dua pertahanan tentera.

Namun Sld Md. Baharain menjadi penyelamat maruah kepada pasukan MS ABDB dari tercalar selepas sepakan kencangnya menyamakan kedudukan setelah dua percubaan rakannya gagal menembusi hadangan.

Empat minit masa tambahan gagal dimanfaatkan oleh kedua pasukan untuk mencari pemenang sehingga kedudukan tidak berubah sekaligus keduanya mempertahankan rekod tanpa kalah.

Pengurus Pasukan Majra United FC, Suhaimi Majid selepas perlawanan melahirkan sedikit kekecewaan setelah pasukanya terikat dengan pasukan tentera sekalipun pada perlawanan tersebut terutama separuh masa kedua pasukannya lebih menguasai permainan.

Mohd Baharin penyelamat MS ABDB

ABDB And Majra Fight To A Draw

Bandar Seri Begawan - An estimated 400-strong crowd was present to watch the DST Super League's only two unbeaten sides, MS ABDB and Majra United FC, play out a thrilling 2-2 draw at Berakas Track and Field Complex last night.

Cpl (U) Mohd Hardi bin Hj Matassan opened the scoring in the 27th minute, but his effort was cancelled out 15 minutes later by Noor Raimi @ Shahremy bin Karim.

Abang Nor Silmy bin Abang Hj Taha set MS ABDB up for an unlikely first loss of the season in the 76th minute, but Pvt Md Baharin bin Hamidon came to his side's rescue with a last-gasp equaliser in the 90th minute.

The result marked MS ABDB's first dropped points of the season and meant they missed out on the chance to go top of the standings. MSABDB are currently tied on 13 points with Indera SC, though the latter boasts a better goal difference of +26. MS ABDB do, however, still have a game in hand.

The final fixture of game week 6 sees a rejuvenated Kilanas FC take on MS PDB tomorrow night at the Berakas Track and Field Complex. Kick-off is at 8:15pm.

A LATE goal by SLD Md Baharin Hamidon ensured the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) remain undefeated in the DST Super League after a 2-2 draw against Majra United FC last night.

SLD Md Baharin was the fastest to the rebound on an effort that hit the post to score in the 90th minute to share the spoils at the Balapan Track & Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

Majra head coach, Hj Mohd Faizalani Abd Ghani, was disappointed to not get out of the game with all three points.

"I thought we should have got the win as we had the bulk of the chances. It was just down to one silly mistake that cost us the win," said Hj Mohd Faizalani after the match.

"We were comfortable and had the momentum. We had studied our opponents and did our part," he added.

"We're disappointed not to win the game because we dominated the second half," continued Hj Mohd Faizalani.

The clash of the titans between two unbeaten teams proved its worth in the opening half as it was a fast paced match right from kick off and a physical one too.

MS ABDB threatened with the long ball and they broke the deadlock in the 27th minute.

KPL (U) Mohd Hardi Hj Matassan was a menace just outside the box with ball possession. With Majra defenders failing to clear, the former fired in a half volleyed shot to beat Abi Yazid Yussof in between the Majra sticks to give the armymen the lead.

His teammate LKPL (U) Mohd Amir almost scored on a similar attempt in the 34th minute but saw his effort just over the crossbar.

Mohammad Jurelmi Hj Zaini should have leveled the scores in the 38th minute after he rose highest on a corner but saw his header denied by the crossbar.

Majra equalised through Noor Raimi @ Shahremy Karim three minutes to the break. He took a freekick from the left that took a deflection off MS ABDB captain SLD Mohammad Safari Wahit to beat goalkeeper SLD Mohd Tarmizi Hj Mat Johari at the near post.

The tempo slowed down at the start of the second half but Majra were looking the better team with their high intensity on defence. They were double or triple teaming each time a MS ABDB player was on the ball to win possession.

Pushing forward on numerous occasions, Majra finally got the lead in the 76th minute after Abang Nor Silmy Abang Hj Taha connected on a header off a freekick from midfield.

The momentum was with Majra but it was not until SLD Md Baharin scored to ensured they took home a point.

The action didn't end there as SLD Mohd Tarmizi made a mistake by taking a goalkick outside the box.

He was fortunate to make a save on the ensuing freekick to ensure they salvaged a point from the match.

MS ABDB manager, Major Azaman Hj Hussin, was also left disappointed that their winning run came to an end last night.

"It was a 50-50 game. Our opponents attacked and we did too. It was important that the players keep their mentality and discipline throughout the game which helped us end the game at 2-2," said Major Azaman.

"It was a tough game and I'm a little disappointed because we wanted all the three points. But credit to Majra as they have been working hard and they put up a good performance too," he added.

Indera SC and MS ABDB are on 13 points but the former remain at the top of the 10-team table on goal difference. However, the latter have played one game less. On the other hand, Majra are in third with 12 points.

The competition continues tomorrow with the Royal Brunei Police Forces Sports Council going up against Kilanas FC at the same venue. Kick off is at 8.15pm.

QAF FC menang tipis

QAF FC Climb To Six Spot

sport-2

Bandar Seri Begawan - QAF FC climbed to 6th in the DST Super League standings after recording a hard-fought 2-1 win over Jerudong FC at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium yesterday.

Adie Arsham bin Md Salleh scored arguably the fastest goal of the season after a miscommunication between the Jerudong FC centre-halves and goalkeeper allowed the QAF FC striker to steal possession of the ball and roll it into the back of the net after just 37 seconds.

Fortune played a large part in QAF FC's second goal, after a cross from the right had Jerudong FC goalkeeper Ismaidnuddin bin Hj Mohamaed back-peddling, the ball came back off the frame of the goal, giving Adie Arsham bin Md Salleh the easy task of tapping home from six yards out in the 51st minute.

Jerudong FC forced a nervy final 20 minutes when Md Esmendy bin Ibrahim converted a penalty following a foul in the box, but the equaliser never materialised.

QAF FC now sit two points behind LLRC FT, who have nine points after six games, although the Bruneian football stalwarts do still have two games in hand, against MS ABDB and Wijaya FC, with the date and venue for both matches yet to be confirmed by the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD).

The DST Super League action continues tonight at the Berakas Track and Field Complex; where the only two unbeaten teams this season, MS ABDB and Majra FC, will square off at 8.15pm.

QAF prevail over Jerudong 2-1

Monday, January 28, 2013

QAF survived a late charge by Jerudong to prevail 2-1 in the DST Super League at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas yesterday.

In what was their second win of the season, forward Adie Arsham Md Salleh scored both goals for QAF.

It was the best of starts for QAF with a lightning goal by Adie Arsham just 37 seconds into the game.

The ball should have been cleared by the Jerudong defenders but a miscommunication with their goalkeeper Ismaidnuddin Hj Mohammad allowed Adie Arsham to pounce and give QAF the lead.

QAF remained in control for much of the game and should have doubled their lead in the 21st minute.

Ratano Hj Tuah had sent a cross from the left and was met by Mardi Mirza Abdullah Bujang just to be headed over the crossbar.

Two minutes later Md Khairol Hj Md Yaa'kub of Jerudong tested Junaidi Akim in between the QAF sticks with a long range effort.

QAF did have good chances as they went on the attack but the scoreline didn't change as they remained in front 1-0 at halftime.

Adie Arsham almost got his second of the match after Jerudong defender Md Enddy Zulyady Sapar slipped.

In a one-on-one situation, the forward could only fire towards Ismaidnuddin in the 50th minute.

However, he made no mistake in the next minute by being at the right place at the right time. Md Shah Azhar Abdullah Ahar had flown in a cross from the right but was misjudged by Ismaidnuddin and hit the post.

Adie Arsham was fastest to the rebound for a simple tap in to make it 2-0.

Jerudong were desperate for a goal and Muhd Abu Bakar Mahari fired one in the 65th minute that required the full stretch of Junaidi Akim to push it over the crossbar.

The ensuing corner saw referee Md Hadiman Hj Shahbudin point to the spot after a foul against one of the Jerudong players.

Md Esmendy Ibrahim scored the penalty to make it 2-1 and it breathed new life into his team.

Three minutes later Md Esmendy had another chance but saw his effort denied by the post.

The momentum was clearly with Jerudong as they threw everything they had forward in search for an equalliser.

Md Esmendy continued to be a menace and QAF were relieved to have the ball cleared off the line three minutes from time.

In injury time, Md Enddy Soehardy Sapar had a shot on target but Junaidi was at his toes to make a save to ensure this team claims the win.

QAF manager, Rahim Hj Daud, was delighted that they were able to get out of the game with all three points.

"I'm still happy with the overall performance even though our strikers were not at peak performance. We could have been up by three goals in the first half," said Rahim after the triumph.

"We were quite fortunate to get that one goal in the second half. If not, we would be under more pressure. But more importantly, we go all three points from the game. That is what we needed and hopefully we will be able to put in some better performances for the upcoming matches," Rahim added.

The win propels QAF to sixth place with seven points from four matches while Jerudong drop to seventh with five points from six games.

The competition continues today with the clash of the titans between two unbeaten teams - Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) and Majra United FC - at the Balapan Track & Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

Kick off is at 8.15pm.

INDERA SC fans were treated to quite the spectacle last night as they watched their team net a jaw-dropping 20 times against Najip FC to go top of the league.
The cricket score 20-1 win was the league’s highest scoring game this season, and questions will continue to be asked as to how Najip FC made it into Brunei’s elite football league.

Coming off the back of a 7-1 thrashing in the last game week, the league’s whipping boys lasted just 45 seconds before conceding, with Muhd Nur Ikwan bin Othman claiming first blood.

Hakeem Abdul Hamid found the back of the net six minutes later, before Hamizan Aziz Sulaiman and Mohd Azwan Ali Rahman both bagged a brace each to put Indera SC 6-0 up with only 20 minutes played.

From there on, it was a straight forward shoot-out between Hamizan and Mohd Azwan, with Mohd Afi Aminuddin converting a 38th minute penalty, before Najip FC pulled one back from the spot through Awg Huzaimi Hj Tengah.

That was as good as it got for the DST Super League cellar dwellers, who went into the break 10-1 down, and at that point, a page perhaps should have been taken out of the softball rulebook, in particular the mercury rule, which would have brought Najip FC’s misery to an end long before 45 minutes had even been played.

Najip FC were outplayed in every aspect on the field, and it was no surprise that come the end of the game, Hamizan Aziz Sulaiman had racked up an impressive eight goals whilst the league’s top scorer, Mohd Azwan Ali Rahman, fell one short of his teammate with seven goals.

The astounding result took Indera SC straight to the top of the standings with 13 points from six games. The league leaders have also found the back of the net 37 times, with over half of their tally coming in last night’s win.

Najip FC, meanwhile, lie rooted to the bottom and look certain to be relegated come the end of the season. Whilst they have scored eight goals in six outings, Najip FC have conceded an incomprehensible 49 times to leave them with a goal difference of -41.

QAF FC will be looking to continue their winning ways when they play Jerudong FC today at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium. Kick-off is at 4.15pm.
