Royal Brunei Police Force's Sports Council (MS PDB) defeated Temburong
district 3-0 in their Group B match of the Brunei Darussalam National
Games (SKBD) football tournament yesterday.
LCPL Jasriman Hj Johari was the star of the match after bagging a brace at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex.
MS PDB started the game brightly, scoring the opening goal in the second minute after PC Md Nazirul Arsat’s corner from the right found Jasriman, who headed from close range to beat the goalkeeper.
Jasriman doubled his tally after dribbling past the goalkeeper, who was drawn out of position, before steering the ball into the unguarded net.
MS PDB secured their three points after APO Mohd Syarafuddin Hamdi Hj Talip fired the ball past the goalkeeper to make it 3-0 in the 26th minute.
MS PDB coach S/Sgt Sahrin Mohd Jaya told The Brunei Times he was satisfied with the team’s performance and was pleased to see their tactics carried out successfully.
“Our mindset in the first half was to score as many goals as possible and to close down the opponents quickly, which prevented them from maintaining ball possession,” he said.
“After we scored three goals, we just concentrated more on our defence to keep the clean sheet in the second half.
Elsewhere, Brunei Shell Joint Venture (BSJV) won 4-3 against Belait district in the other Group B match held at the Berakas Sports Complex last night.
The tournament will proceed today with fixtures from Group A between Tutong district and the Telecommunications and ICT Sector at the Berakas Sports Complex.
Brunei-Muara, meanwhile, will see action against the Institute of Higher Learning (IPT) at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex.
