ABDB shoot seven past Sri Sentosa

MOHAMMAD Safari Wahit scored a hat-trick to help MS ABDB thrash Sri Sentosa 7-0 in their fourth match of the DST National Football League at the Belapan Track and Field Sports Complex in Berakas last night.

It was MS ABDB's third win in four games. With this latest victory they are now four points clear above Indera FC who still have one game in hand in Group C of the DST National Football League. As for Sri Sentosa, this was their second loss in four matches.

MS ABDB assistant manager Khalid Hj Bujang was satisfied with his team performance saying that his team had improved from their previous game against Rimba Star last week.

"We are very satisfied with the performance tonight because we have three to four key players injured coming into this game, Amir Hamzah, goal keeper Tarmizi Johari  and our captain Hj Yussof missed the game tonight," said Khalid in a post match interview with The Brunei Times.

"What we had planned for the game went right this time and we are very happy, we planned to control midfield in this game and try to find goals from set pieces and creating chances from crosses,"

he said.

"Defender Safari played very well, he was the best player on the field tonight, he scored three goals and he is the man of the match for us in this game," he added.

MS ABDB started off strongly, attacking relentlessly and they opened the scoring early in the game with a 4th-minute header by Ak Md Safri Pg Hj Othman who netted from close range after a great cross from Abd Azizi Ali Rahman.

Md Safari made it 2-0 as he found the net off a header from the corner kick in the 30th minute. Md Hardi Hj Matassan added another five minutes later to increase the MS ABDB's lead to 3-0 going into the second half.

A beautifully struck free-kick from just outside the area by Md Safari made it 4-0 in the 51st minute and he completed his hat-trick by converting from the penalty spot in the 67th minute.

Md Khairuddin Abd Kadir scored the sixth in the 83rd minute. Abd Azizi sealed the MS ABDB win with an impressive solo effort originating from the right side of the midfield before slotting the ball past the goalkeeper in the 92nd minute.

The other match saw BSRC beat Liverpool SC 2-0 in group B.

Meanwhile the other match that kicked-off at 4.15pm yesterday saw Majra United defeated RBA FC 7-0 in group D. Faizal Mohd, Dannie Hendra Mohd Idris, Md Azri Zahari, Md Ikmal Hakim and Noor Raimi all got their names onto the scoresheet.The Brunei Times
