MENGLAIT FC's quest for Brunei FA Cup glory ended as they were defeated 3-0 by IKLS at the Berakas Sports Complex last night.
Mohd Ariffin Hj Sulaiman and Azamain Awg Hj Masri scored in the 23rd and 40th minute respectively to give IKLS a 2-0 lead in the first half before Menglait FC's goalkeeper Ak Md Mu'izzuddin Pg Sarifuddin added the third in the 81st minute with an own goal.
Menglait FC were comprehensively outplayed throughout the game, limited to only a few shots in the game.
IKLS head coach Hj Md Ali Rahman Hj Sulaiman highlighted the importance of teamwork in the victory.
"I have to congratulate all the players. They have been training really hard for this tournament and they were fantastic tonight. It was a good team display, their passes were good and they pressed the ball very well."
"Team captain Mohd Ariffin Hj Sulaiman improved so much. He was very influential on the pitch," he added.
The other match saw Setia Perdana FC thrash Mangalela FC 8-2 at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.-
