Teams For DST Super And Premier Leagues

Bandar Seri Begawan - With the final match of the DST Brunei National Football League being played yesterday, the teams that managed to clinch spots for the DST Super League 2012 and DST Premier League 2012 was announced at a press conference yesterday.

Both leagues are schedule to kick off at the end of this year together with the U-16 league.

The announcement was made by Haji Awang Mohd Taha Hj Mohd Tahir, the chairman of the organising committee who is also the Assistant Secretary of National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam.

He revealed that the top two teams in each of the four groupings in the DST Brunei National Football League with another two best 3rd place finishers of the league have qualified for the Super League.

The confirmed teams in the DST Super League are LLRC FT (Group A champion), Najip FC (Group A runner-up), QAF FC (Group B champion), Jerudong FC (Group B runner-up), Indera VC (Group C champion), MS ABDB (Group C runner-up), Majra United (Group D champion), Kilanas FC (Group D runner-up), MS Polls DB and Wijaya FC (best No 3 teams of the league).

Teams in the DST Premier League are Setia Perdana (No 3 of Group A), BSRC (No 3 Group B), Perkasa (No 4 Group A), Tunas FC (No 4 Group B), Rimba Star (No 4 Group C), Muara Vella FC (No 4 Group D), BIBD FC (No 5 Group A), Kota Ranger (No 5 Group B), IKLS (No 5 Group C) and Lun Bawang (No 5 Group D).

All the teams in both leagues must maintain their players until the start of the transfer window which is currently still in the works.

However teams which finished in the position of 6th, 7th and 8th of the National League are allowed to register new players.

The remaining teams of the DST Brunei National Football League will be allocated to teams participating in local football scene through leagues in each four district.

With the involvement of the four separate district football association, Haji Awang Mohd Taha said: "The idea is to let the country's four districts to continue to be involved in football. From the district league, five top teams from Brunei Muara, two top teams from Tutong and Belait and one top team from Temburong will clinch a place to play into the national league."

The date for the start of the district league has yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, Hj Awang Mohd Taha also stressed that football players must not be a part of any futsal team and also futsal players must not be a player of any football.

"The separation is necessary so that there will not be any conflict of interest as well as matches and the association is currently trying to identify futsal players to form a national futsal team," he explained.
Haji Awang Mohd Taha also highlighted on the availability of venues whereby currently, there are only three venues that possess sufficient safety guidelines namely Berakas football field, Belapan Track and Field complex and the National Stadium. All the three venues have barricade or fences, dressing rooms for teams and proper substitute benches.

On a separate note, he also confirmed that the association will be running the U16 national league through each district whereby after the league, five top teams from Brunei Muara, two top teams from Tutong and Belait and one top team from Temburong will clinch a place to play in the U16 national league. The league will kick start by the end of the year.

Haii Awang Mohd Taha would also like to convey his heartfelt appreciation to all the football fans, local media, participating teams as well as Youth and Sports Department and match officials for their continuous support to help make the league a success.
