17871 Sld Abdul Azizi bin Ali Rahman opened the scoring in the 24th minute with a speculative drive from the edge of the 18-yard box, which had keeper Norsahrul bin Haji Ibrahim flailing at thin air as the ball rippled the back of the net.
Things only got better for MS ABDB, who were ripping Brunei-Muara apart down the wings with their superior pace and stamina, when 19815 Sld Mohd Nur Ikhmal bin Awg Damit netted his side's second five minutes before the break.
The MS ABDB trickster received the ball after his teammates long-range effort had cannoned back off the post, dropping his shoulder to shimmy past not one, nor two, but three hapless Brunei-Muara defenders before coolly slotting the ball past the keeper.
It was not to be Brunei-Muara's day, and things took a turn for the worst when keeper Norsahrul was forced out of the game and sent straight to hospital with a suspected dislocated shoulder.
MS ABDB almost undid their good work, and after missing a couple of gilt-edged opportunities, threw the ball into Brunei-Muara's court after 18162 Sld Mohd Safari bin Wahit deliberately shoved Ak Md Halim bin Pg Hj Hassan off the ball inside the box as the Brunei-Muara forward attempted to connect with his teammate's through ball.
Mohammad Ariffin bin Hj Sulaiman stepped up to take the ensuing spot-kick and composed himself to convert the penalty, finding the top right corner and leaving MS ABDB Keeper 17431 Lkpl Ak Md Faizul Adzmi bin Pg Hj Tajuddin rooted to the spot, and with 18 minutes to go, Brunei-Muara sensed a comeback, or at least extra time, was on the cards.
However, after an exchange of near misses and scares, and four minutes of added time, the referee blew his whistle.
MS ABDB will have to wait until tonight to find out who their final opponents are, with Group B winners, MS PDB, set to fight it out with Belait in the second semifinal match at the Berakas Sports Complex tonight at 8:15pm.
