ABDB Too Good For QAF FC

Bandar Seri Begawan - MS ABDB overcame QAF FC in the second round of the DST FA Cup last night after a 2-0 victory at the Berakas Sports Complex.

LKPL Ak Mohammad Safri Pg Othman gave his side the lead in the 51st minute with a glancing header following a SLD Budiman bin Jumat free-kick.

QAF FC appeared to have equalised just 12 minutes later following a flurry of goal mouth scares, which began with Riwandi bin Wahit's clever run into the box.

The QAF FC striker's off target effort was collected by a teammate, who played the ball back into the box, only to look on in disbelief as Adie Arsham bin Md Salleh sent his close range header crashing against the cross bar.

The ball came back out to Mohd Hadiman bin Abdul Lamit, who spotted the MS ABDB goalkeeper off his line, and found the back of the net with a brilliant lob from 25 yards out.

However, it was not to be, as the linesman's raised flag came as a result of a foul in the box by Mardi Mirza bin Abdullah Bujang on the MS ABDB keeper.

A change from the more conventional formation of 4-4-2 to a 3-5-2 appeared to be a strange decision by MS ABDB's manager, Mej (U) Awg Suhaimi bin Awg Jamali, but the move paid off as MS ABDB found the back of the net once more to seal the win.

LKPL (U) Mohamed Amir Akmal in Mohamed Tahir wriggled his way into the QAF FC penalty box, and found his unmarked teammate, SLD Mohd Nur Ikhmal bin Awg Damit, who had the simple task of tapping home from three yards out with 12 minutes left to play.

The result means that MS ABDB will next play Sporting FT on Saturday (Oct 27) in the next round of the FA Cup.

In last night's other match, IKLS FC recorded a cricket score against newcomers MPK Sungai Matan FC.
Ak Muhd Nur Ikhwanuddin bin Pg Yusof and Ak Md Halim bin Pg Hj Hassan both scored hat-tricks in IKLS PC's 15-0 rout of MPKSM PC.

Following their avalanche victory, IKLS FC will play Jerudong FC in the next round of the FA Cup.

The DST FA Cup continues with Najip PC battling it out with Setia Perdana at the Berakas Sports Complex, with the winner earning themselves a third round match against LLRC FC.
