MAJRA FC feel confident going into their third-round FA Cup match against Brunei Shell Recreation Club (BSRC) but assistant manager Hj Mahaddi Hj Mat Zain is well aware of the threat their opponents pose in their clash tonight at the Berakas Sports Complex."We are not going to take them (BSRC) lightly. They have been on the Brunei football scene for quite a long time and they have very good and experienced players," Hj Mahaddi told The Brunei Times last night.
"We played them twice a long time ago and we won the two matches. But they are a different team now and the team look good," he said.
" We just started training three weeks ago and the players are confident. I trust my players ... to deliver a good performance tomorrow."
Majra FC's biggest achievement to date was winning the DST Group Brunei League Cup final in 2011.
And they will be looking to add more silverware to their club's cabinet by winning the Brunei FA Cup this year.
"It is every football club's ambitions to win titles... It is not going to be easy, but we will give everything in this tournament," Hj Mahaddi said.
The team will also be boosted by the return of key player Azri Zahari, who laced up for the national team during the ASEAN Football Federation Suzuki Cup qualifiers in Myanmar.
Hj Mahaddi said the 21-year-old would be one of the players to watch out for tonight.
"We will use Azri's speed in the game to create chances and score goals. We have been using him as a striker for several games now and he has enjoyed playing in that position. He will be partnering striker Faisal Mohammad after a long absence due to work commitments. Faisal was the second top goal scorer in the DST league a few years back. It is good to have him back this year," the assistant manager added.
Majra FC's former DPMM FC players Yussof Salleh, Abang Norsilmy Abang Hj Taha and Julremi Zaini will also be lacing up for tonight's encounter.
The club, which was established in 2003, booked their berth in the second round of the Brunei FA Cup after defeating non-league team Seri Wira FC 4-1 at the Belapan Track & Field on June 20 before receiving a bye into the third round.
BSRC on the other hand played in last season's DST National Football League and will be competing in the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam Premier League next season.
They defeated Hijrah FT 3-0 at the Balapan Track and Field in Berakas last Tuesday to qualify for the FA Cup's third round.
BSRC manager Pg Saiful Rizal Pg Moktar Putih said the team would look to get an early goal and hold on to the lead.
"Majra FC are one of the strongest teams in the country. The plan is to play with 3-5-2 formation, get an early goal and defend, but we know that they are capable of scoring too," Pg Saiful Rizal said.
"It is going to be a 50-50 game but I think Majra FC will have a slight advantage over us. However, we will try our best."
