FIFTEEN teams will be fighting for first place in the inaugural Veteran FA Cup beginning Friday, October 19."The tournament is held in addition to the DST Group President's Cup National Veteran Football League and is an annual activity organised by the Veteran Football Association (VFA) for local veterans," Deputy Secretary General of VFA, Jabar Ithnin, said in a phone interview yesterday.
The cup will begin with two matches: Satria Veteran FC against Jerudong FC and Mengellela FC against Muara Vella FC.
Then, it continues with four more teams being pitted against each other on October 21 with Semaun FC against Al-Idrus and Rimba Star FC against Muara Vella FC.
On October 28 another round of games will feature with PSJD clashingwith Temburong's veteran team, while Pondok 12 will go against the Old Stars.
On Sunday November 4, there will be the match between MIISA United FC and BSRC Recon FC. According to organisers without a contender, Perkasa FC automatically enters the quarter-final.
The quarter-final will take place on November 9 and November 11, while the semi-finals will be on November 16 and culminates with the final taking place on November 18.
As of yet, the tournament venue was not confirmed.
"The winning team will receive a money prize of $300, trophy and medals. The runner-up would also receive trophy and medals, but with a money prize worth $200," Jabar said.
He added that a managers' meeting was held yesterday afternoon to discuss the rules and regulations of the tournament.
