ABDB Beat Majra To Reach Semifinals

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) marched into the last four of the Brunei-DST FA Cup after beating Majra FC 3-1 at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium yesterday.

MS ABDB also became the first side to advance into the semifinals and remain in contention to reach the final again.

Both teams were unable to break the deadlock in the first half but MS ABDB showed that they were the hungrier side after the interval.

Mohammad Mazazizi netted for one of the tournament's contenders in the 55th minute and was on their way after Md Baharin made it on the score-sheet five minutes later.

Mohammad Julremi pulled one back for Majra FC but Affendy scored a minute later to regain a two-goal cushion.

Meanwhile, MS ABDB's fiercest rivals, the Royal Brunei Police Force Sports Council (MSPDB) came back from a goal down to win 3-1 in an action-packed event at the Berakas Sports Complex last night.
Muara Vella underlined their superiority as the first half reached to a climax but saw no end result despite their wealth of possession against a disciplined and resolute side. The boys in red left the pitch the happier side coming into the break but the score remained goalless.

Muara Vella continued where they left off when the match resumed and got themselves into a good position after the policemen conducted a foul. Barely a minute into the restart, Md Aminuddin Zakwan rose high and headed the ball past the hapless keeper to give his side a much deserved lead.

The momentum seemed to be heading Muara Vella's way and looked animatedly to end the contest. But, the tide turned and clever play from MS PDB hit them on the break as Rosmini Abd Kahar lashed on a perfect cross down the right to level the match in the 62nd minute.

MS PDB managed to contain Muara Vella's fast play and the half-time team talk seemed to work wonders for the police team. Khalid Mustapah received the ball from out of the box before producing a wonder strike worthy of winning any tie in the 70th minute.

Mohd Hisam Azam effectively killed the tie in the 82nd minute after reacting the quickest from a corner as MS PDB booked their place in the quarterfinals of the Brunei- DST FA Cup.

MS PDB will next face Kilanas FC on Nov 30.
