MS ABDB eye maximum points from QAF FC clash

THERE will be no letting up from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) when they take on QAF FC in the DST Super League at the Balapan Track and Field at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas tonight.

MS ABDB assistant manager Edham Harlip said the team will only be satisfied if they take home all three points from the match.

"A win against QAF FC will help lift the team's spirit. It will also help boost the players' confidence to win the DST Super League in its first season. We need to keep on winning if we want to win the league so tonight's game against QAF FC is very important," he told The Brunei Times last night.

Despite his ambitions, the assistant manager warned that QAF FC is not a team to be taken lightly.

"QAF FC are not a team that we can look down upon. They are one of the strongest team in Brunei. So we need to be at our best when we play them tonight," said Edham Harlip.

He added that MS ABDB might be welcoming back the services of captain Affendy Hj Akup who is recovering from a groin injury.

"We played without our captain Affendy in our previous game against Royal Brunei Police Forces Sports Council (MS PDB). We won the game, but we were a bit shaky on defence. He is recovering, we will see how it goes tomorrow."

MS ABDB edged MS PDB 2-1 in the league opener at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas on December 15.

Budiman Jumat scored a brace for MS ABDB.

QAF FC manager Rahim Daud, meanwhile, is hoping to get his team back to winning ways after being held 2-2 by Indera SC at the Balapan Track and Field at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas last Sunday.

Both Petrus Jumat and Adie Arsham Muhammad Salleh found the net for QAF FC.

"We know that MS ABDB are the favourites to win the game tomorrow. But anything can happen in football and I am hoping that we will be able to challenge and win," he said.

"It is going to be tough. Our first match was against the runner up of the DST FA Cup, Indera SC, and now we will face the champions. We will see (how it goes) tomorrow." he said.
