INDERA SC fans were treated to quite the spectacle last night as they watched their team net a jaw-dropping 20 times against Najip FC to go top of the league.
The cricket score 20-1 win was the league’s highest scoring game this season, and questions will continue to be asked as to how Najip FC made it into Brunei’s elite football league.

Coming off the back of a 7-1 thrashing in the last game week, the league’s whipping boys lasted just 45 seconds before conceding, with Muhd Nur Ikwan bin Othman claiming first blood.

Hakeem Abdul Hamid found the back of the net six minutes later, before Hamizan Aziz Sulaiman and Mohd Azwan Ali Rahman both bagged a brace each to put Indera SC 6-0 up with only 20 minutes played.

From there on, it was a straight forward shoot-out between Hamizan and Mohd Azwan, with Mohd Afi Aminuddin converting a 38th minute penalty, before Najip FC pulled one back from the spot through Awg Huzaimi Hj Tengah.

That was as good as it got for the DST Super League cellar dwellers, who went into the break 10-1 down, and at that point, a page perhaps should have been taken out of the softball rulebook, in particular the mercury rule, which would have brought Najip FC’s misery to an end long before 45 minutes had even been played.

Najip FC were outplayed in every aspect on the field, and it was no surprise that come the end of the game, Hamizan Aziz Sulaiman had racked up an impressive eight goals whilst the league’s top scorer, Mohd Azwan Ali Rahman, fell one short of his teammate with seven goals.

The astounding result took Indera SC straight to the top of the standings with 13 points from six games. The league leaders have also found the back of the net 37 times, with over half of their tally coming in last night’s win.

Najip FC, meanwhile, lie rooted to the bottom and look certain to be relegated come the end of the season. Whilst they have scored eight goals in six outings, Najip FC have conceded an incomprehensible 49 times to leave them with a goal difference of -41.

QAF FC will be looking to continue their winning ways when they play Jerudong FC today at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium. Kick-off is at 4.15pm.
