MAJRA FC made easy work of Najip FC with a 4-1 victory to move to second in the DST Super League last night.

In what their first win in three matches, Abang Nor Silmy Abang Hj Taha found the back of the net twice for Majra at the Balapan Track and Field at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

Both teams were trying to adjust to the wet conditions with the rain pouring down, and it was Majra that adapted faster.

Mohammad Jurelmi Hj Zaini had a good chance to break the deadlock in the 20th minute after slashing past three defenders, just to fire wide.

Najip almost took the lead after Rosmarhaldie Omar beat the Majra backline two minutes later.

Goalkeeper Mohd Amirul Sabqi Said cleared his line and slipped, but fortunately, his opponent failed to take advantage.

Majra continued to pile on the pressure and it was evident they would soon find the back of the net.

It finally happened after Mohammad Jurelmi scored in the 39th minute.

He floated a freekick outside the box over the Najip wall which left shotstopper Md Fuad Lasa flat-footed.

Abang Nor Silmy doubled the lead for Majra just three minutes later.

Mohammad Jurelmi turned provider with a cross from the right for an unmarked Abang Nor Silmy to head home to make it 2-0 heading into halftime.

Majra continued their dominance in the match with plenty of ball possession. They got their third goal of the night in the 50th minute, once again, through Abang Nor Silmy.

Mohammad Jurelmi had made a good run on the left and was given space to fire at goal. His shot was deflected, but only as far as, Abang Nor Silmy who headed home for a 3-0 advantage.

Majra were pushing forward in numbers and it was looking like a walk in a park.

They added another to their tally after Najip failed to handle a corner in the 75th minute, and Mohd Ikmal Hakim Bin Hj Mohd Yunnos was at the right place at the right time to score from point blank range.

Substitute Ak Nurul Aleshahnezan Pg Metali should have had his name on the scoresheet but couldn't beat Md Fuad one-on-one in the two minutes later.

Instead, Najip managed to get a consolation goal in the 84th minute after some confusion in the Majra defence allowing Md Daud Hj Tengah to score.

Ak Nurul Aleshahnezan had another opportunity in a one-on-one situation in injury time but was denied again.

Hj Habry Hj Abdullah, a member of the Majra management, was satisfied with the outcome.

"The team is improving in terms of both tactical and teamwork, said Hj Habry after the triumph.

"The confidence level is high and we are satisfied with the scoreline.

We could have scored more goals but overall it was a good performance.

"I thought we had the edge in terms of experience to be able to adjust quickly to the environment," he concluded.

Today's matches will see Wijaya FC take on the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) at the Balapan Track and Field at 4:15pm and Jerudong FC host Kilanas FC at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas at 8:15pm.
