INDERA Sports Club will be lacing up for a must-win game against the
Royal Brunei Police Force Sports Council (MS PDB) in tonight's DST Super
League action.
The season draws to a close on Sunday with leaders Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) taking on Indera, and though the gap between the two sides is six points, Indera have a game in hand tonight's tie against the policemen.
Anything less than a win at the Balapan Track & Field at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas, and the title is in the bag for the soldiers.
Indera also risk finishing second to Majra if they fail to beat either the policemen or soldiers, so their manager is fully aware of the significance of tonight's match.
"We can't slip up... We have to win this game if we are to overtake MS ABDB in the final game," insisted Rosdin Hj Abd Aziz last night.
"We're treating the game against the policemen as a final. We have to win this game.
"These two next games are crucial but we have to take it one game at a time," he added.
Though a win against MS ABDB will put the two teams level on points, Indera's superior goal difference thanks largely to their 20-1 thrashing of basement dwellers Najip FC in January means they will pip the army men for the league.
And after losing out on this season's DST FA Cup to the soldiers in December, Indera will hardly need any extra motivation to go all out in tonight's match.
MS PDB who could not be contacted for this article will be looking for a win in what will be their last game of the season as the three points will put them level on points with Indera.
But even if the policemen beat Indera tonight, and the latter fall to MS ABDB on Sunday, the best MS PDB can hope for is to end the season at fourth because of their goal difference.
Despite saying his team's confidence is on a high, Rosdin was quick to point out that none of his players will be underestimating tonight's opponents.
"MS PDB have good stamina and discipline, and they also train more than us," he said.
QAF FC end their season against Najip on Saturday night, where a win for the former will see them potentially finish their season on fourth.
Najip though will be praying for what would be their first point of the season.
