MS PDB shoot down QAF FC

Sunday, April 20, 2014

A CLINICAL performance by ten-man Royal Brunei Police Force Sports Council (MS PDB) saw them prevail 3-1 over QAF FC in their DST Super League match at the Balapan Track and Field at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas last night.

The game looked to be going in a different direction early on with QAF FC putting on a dominant performance at the start.

They managed to create several chances but failed to trouble MS PDB goalkeeper Md Khairol Amin Hj Zainuuddin.

The match took a turn at the midway mark of the half when a painful collision between QAF FC’s goalkeeper Junaidi Akim and teammate striker Riwandi Wahit saw the latter stretchered off the pitch
.
QAF FC appeared to have gained the upper hand at the 26th minute when MS PDB defender Abd Aziz Hj Mohammad picked up his second yellow card in quick succession, leaving the referee no choice but to flash him the red.

The send off only served as a wake up call for MS PDB.

Their backline remained composed and the policemen would make QAF FC pay for not capitalising on their numerical advantage

A quick free-kick from MS PDB’s defensive half just before the break took QAF FC by surprise and winger Md Naasirrudden Hj Zulkifly skidded past his marker to deliver a pinpoint low cross to the box for Jasriman Hj Johari to break the deadlock at the 44th minute.

QAF FC came out the stronger side at the restart, hitting the goal post twice and forcing the on-form MS PDB goalkeeper to make a number of acrobatic saves.

Their momentum was however stalled in the 54th minute when Jasriman broke through the right flank and grabbed his second of the night, scoring via a volley past Junaidi.

QAF FC continued to pile on the pressure despite trailing and midfielder Sam Frank’s introduction in the second half showed glimpses of a comeback.

The pressure paid off in the 68th minute when Md Shah Azhar Abdullah Ahar sent a thunderous shot to the top right corner to finally beat Md Khairol Amin.

Any chances of a QAF FC equaliser faded in the 81st minute when Muhd Hafis Mahari – who also received a red card in a previous meeting with MS PDB – mishandled the ball to see his second yellow of the night.

MS PDB captain Rosmini Hj Abd Kahar put the game away in the 87th minute when he calmly sent the ball to the back of the net following a one-on-one matchup against Junaidi.

MS PDB’s sixth win of the season saw them leapfrog Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) to second place with 18 points.

League leaders Indera SC currently sit on 20 points but with a game in hand.
