MS ABDB win to heap pressure on leaders

|     Fadhil Yunus     |

MS ABDB boosted their hopes of pursuing table topping Indera SC at the summit of the DST Super League following a crucial 1-0 win against arch rivals MS PDB at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium last night.

The match had been rescheduled at a rare venue for a league tie as the match official and assistant referees became subjects of assessment under the microscope of the visiting AFC Referee Instructor Okada Masayoshi.

Suhaimi bin Hj Md Yussof’s 18th minute penalty proved the match-winner.

The army side was left unpunished when MS PDB failed to capitalise a defensive error from only three yards out.

Mohd Mazazizi bin Mazlan brilliantly laid a clever pass to Abd Azizi bin Ali Rahman whose shot bounced off the post much to the relief of the police side.

MS ABDB dominated in the second half with their fierce rivals barely seeing the ball though did not make the most of their chances.

Mohd Mazazizi produced a man-of-the match performance creating havoc with his pinpoint deliveries. His finishing did not match, however, as he scuffed his shot well wide from a promising position.

Under the watchful eye of Okada, the referee did not allow play to continue when a MS ABDB’s player was in possession of the ball and instead pulling the ball back for a foul.

Both MS ABDB and MS PDB remained second and third respectively in the DST Super League.
