The National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) has handed Faizal Mohammad a five-year suspension after the Majra United captain was found guilty of assaulting the referee during a DST Super League game against the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) on Tuesday, forcing the match to be abandoned.

In a press release, the national football body stated it “takes a serious view on the incident, and will not condone such behavior.”

After investigations into the incident, which occurred in the 59th minute of the game at the Balapan Track & Field at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas, NFABD’s Disciplinary Committee concluded it would suspend Faizal for all football activities for five years with effect from May 14, 2014.

Majra United have also been found negligent in the management of the team and its supporters during the above mentioned game, and will be fined $500.

Referring to Article 57 of NFABD’s Disciplinary Code, the game has been awarded to MS ABDB 3-0.
