ROYAL Brunei Armed Forces' Sports Council (MS ABDB) manager Suhaimi
Jamali said that he was confident that his side would come up with a win
during tonight's Brunei FA Cup second round clash against old foes QAF
FC.
"Not to be arrogant, but we have done very good preparations for this game and I am confident that the players will perform very well and win tomorrow (today)," said Suhaimi in an interview with The Brunei Times last night.
"We played a number of good friendly games against the local clubs during the past few months. I think we played very well against DPMM FC and I can see the players have improved as a team. During the training I always emphasised on team work and I think team work is very important for us," the manager said.
The armymen managed to hold DPMM FC to a 3-3 draw in a friendly match at the Jerudong Mini Stadium last Wednesday.
"If we look at previous meetings between the two clubs for the past few years, the results have gone our way," he added.
MS ABDB last competitive match against QAF FC was a 3-1 victory at the Berakas Sports Complex in the last year's DST Group Brunei League Cup semi-final.
"However, we know that the pressure is on us to win the game tomorrow and again not to sound boastful, we have advantage over QAF FC on fitness as we train everyday. The team that will be playing tomorrow will be a combination of the players that won the Brunei Games football competition and the existing players," the manager continued. MS ABDB also welcomed back their two players, defenders Haizul Rani Metusin and Affendi Hj Akub after representing the national team in the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup qualifying round in Myanmar. "We just got our two players back in the team. They are the key players for us. Even though they just got back yesterday, it is important to have them in the squad," added the MS ABDB's manager. Meanwhile, QAF FC's manager Rahim Hj Daud admitted that it is going to be a tough test for his team when they meet MS ABDB at the Berakas Sports tonight at 8pm.
"It is going to be like a final and I hope that the weather will be good tomorrow. I think we meet them too early in this tournament," said the manager. "However all the players are in a good form. There are no injuries in the team," he added.
