MUARA Vella FC opened their campaign in the inaugural Veteran FA Cup
with a 4-0 thrashing of Mengellela Veteran FC at the Pehin Dato Seri
Maharaja Secondary School in Mentiri.Saiful Bahrin opened the scoring in the eighth minute to put Muara Vella FC up 1-0 at halftime. They then doubled their lead right at the restart through Hj Usin Besar.
In the 51st minute, Saiful Bahrin notched a brace with another goal before Pg Zulkepli added another in the 72nd minute with a penalty.
In the other match, Jerudong FC edged Satria Veteran FC 2-1 at the RIPAS Secondary School in Tutong
Jerudong FC took the lead through Md Ali Momin in the 23rd minute. They made it a two-goal cushion after Samin Duraman found the back of the net in the 41st minute.
Radiman A Rahman pulled one back for Satria Veteran FC just before the break in the 44th minute but it was not enough after a goalless second half. A total of 15 teams with Perkasa FC being the only to receive a bye into the next round are competing for top honours in the tournament.
The competition continues tomorrow with two more matches.
Semaun FC will go up against Al-Idrus at the Meragang Sixth Form Centre field while Rimba Star FC against Telbru FT at RIPAS Secondary School.
