THE ROYAL Brunei Police Forces Sports Council (MS PDB) produced an incredible comeback to snatch a memorable 2-1 victory over Wijaya FC yesterday in the DST Super League at the Balapan Track and Field in Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

The victory left third-placed MS PDB two points behind the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) at the top of the table.

However, the manner in which they claimed points meant that the title is not only restricted to Indera Sports Club and MS ABDB.

Majra shocked Indera 2-0 at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex last night, the result moving them from third to second.

Indera, meanwhile, drop to fourth.

The policemen scored twice in the last seven minutes to steal three points from a Wijaya side that looked to have escaped the game with a win.

"It was a very important win. Even though we were without our key players Mohd Syarafuddin Hamdi Hj Talip, Jasriman Hj Johari and captain Rosmini Hj Abdul Kahar, we still managed to get three points today," said MS PDB coach Sahrin Hj Mohammad Jaya.

"Wijaya played very well today but they looked tired in the final 10 minutes of the game It was great comeback for us. We kept on trying in the game, it was hard fought, and finally we found the goals late in the second-half.

"In the first-half we played with 4-5-1. In the second-half we decided to put one more striker and changed the tactics to 4-4-2. Credit to the players, they played with very good attitude and discipline today," he added.

Despite dominating, MS PDB found themselves trailing to Abang Muhd Fakhri Abang Jaludin's goal in the 50th minute.

Abang Muhd Fakhri's curling cross from the right was misjudged by MS PDB goalkeeper Mohd Khairul Amin Hj Zainuddin, and the ball hit the top corner of the net.

MS PDB upped the pace when they found themselves 1-0 down, and with Mohammad Huzairol Mohammad Idris and Muhammad Saiful Rizal Awang asserting themselves in the middle of the park — and full back Jimy Anak Ahar and Mohd Zulkhairie Hj Mohd Salleh linking well down the left — the policemen were dominating the game.

Khalid Mustapah shot over the bar when one-on-one with Wijayas goalkeeper Mohd Nashruddin Muizaddien in the 65th minute and fluffed a couple more chances minutes later.

MS PDB threw everything at Wijaya in search of the equaliser in the final 20 minutes, but it was Wijaya who came close to scoring when Jamrin Hj Johari hit the bar on the counter-attack and forced Mohd Khairul Amin into an excellent save.

But the policemen's persistence would mean they were handed a route back into the game thanks to two late goals by Mohammad Huzairol and Mohd Fazizul Hussin.

Mohd Huzairol tapped home a low cross by Mohd Zulkhairie from the right corner in the 83rd minute before Mohd Fazizul hit a low half-volley inside the penalty box past Mohd Nashruddin five minutes later.
