MOHAMMAD Abu Bakar Mahari hit a hat-trick and Mohd Esmendy Brahim scored twice as a rampant Jerudong FC demolished Najip FC 6-0 in the DST Super League at the Balapan Track and Field at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex yesterday.

Jerudong FC took an early lead with Mohd Abu Bakar Mahari scoring from 20 metres out to beat goalkeeper Mohd Amirul Rashid Mohd Yusuf in the 10th minute.

Jerudong FC's verve and invention overwhelmed Najip FC and Mohd Abu Bakar Mahari doubled his team's lead six minutes later.

Catching the opponent's defence napping, Mohd Abu Bakar did brilliantly to get to a rebound following Mohd Bazli Said's long-range shot in the 16th minute. Mohd Esmendy made it 3-0 in the 36th minute leaving Najip FC with an uphill battle after the break.

With manager Najip Moktal barking instructions from the touchline, Najip FC limited Jerudong FC to three in the first half. However it was only a matter of time before Jerudong FC added to their lead and three minutes after the restart, Mohammad Abu Bakar pounced at the near post to score Jerudong FC's fourth and his third.

Mohd Bazli poured further misery on the Najip FC, making it 5-0 a minute later with a goal engineered by Jerudong captain Mohammad Radzi Tamat.

Exploiting a gaping hole in the opponent's defence, Mohammad Radzi made a run into the penalty area, before he squared the ball to Mohd Bazli to find the back of the net with the easiest of finishes.

Captain Sumardi Aiadin struck the crossbar as Najip FC desperately looked for a route back into the game but, Mohd Esmendy would put the gloss on the win with Jerudong FC's sixth and his second in the game.

Collecting Mohd Bazli's cut- back from the right, the midfielder calmly struck his second goal from the edge of the box as Jerudong FC walk away with three precious points.

"Before the game, I told my players that this is a must win game following the 2-2 draw with Majra FC in our first game last Sunday. It is a three precious points for us. We cannot drop more points in the game as other teams are winning," said Jerudong FC manager, Hj Jalaluddin Hj Ghazali.

"I am very happy with the three points, even though we did not perform at our best today. It has been raining for the past few days and the pitch is not at its best condition. It was slippery and wet and it affects the flow of the game."

"However, credit to my boys, they still managed to score six goals today. I think our captain Radzi Tamat and midfielder Hanafizul Helmi Hanafiah were fantastic today. They controlled the game and created a lot of chances in the game," he added.

Meanwhile, Najip FC manager, Najip bemoaned the state of pitch after the defeat.

"I think the pitch is wet and it affects the movement of the ball. We have to resort to playing a long ball which was very difficult since we played with only one striker upfront after our key striker Huzaimi Hj Awg Tengah out with fever," said the manager.

The latter match at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas saw Indera SC thrash Wijaya FC 7-3.
