Indera appeal for rematch against Tabuan Muda

DETHRONED champions Indera Sports Club (SC) have appealed to have last Sunday’s abandoned DST Super League match against Tabuan Muda (the national Under-23 team) replayed.

The game at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas was called off after 61 minutes when Indera captain Shahrin Hj Momin was sent off for a second yellow card, reducing the team to just eight players on the field.

The referee immediately stopped the game - which was goalless - and explained that it could not continue if one side has only eight players in the team.

However, the decision was not in line with FIFA rules.

In ‘Laws of the Game 2015/2016’, Law 3 states that “A match is played by two teams, each consisting of not more than eleven players, one of whom is the goalkeeper. A match may not start if either team consists of fewer than seven players.”

Referring to the above rule, Indera head coach Hj Omar Hj Jamil believes that the referee made a mistake by calling off the game - and that they should be given an opportunity to play again.

“We want a replay,” said Hj Omar after a meeting with the tournament committee at the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) Office in Berakas yesterday.

“The referee stopped the game when it shouldn’t be stopped. We had eight players on the field and not seven.

“The only solution for us is to have the game to be replayed… We consider it to be one of our important matches of the season as we are targeting to finish second,” he added.

Indera are now third in the table with 32 points, one point behind Najip I-Team - who are on 33 points.

Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) secured their maiden DST Super League title on Friday with two games left to play.

The DST Super League tournament committee yesterday said they are seriously addressing the matter and that decision will be made in due time.

Tabuan Muda head coach Stephen Ng Heng Seng is open to any decisions made by the organising tournament committee.

“Tabuan Muda was set up as a development team to keep the elite players together to prepare for future international games and, we have always wanted to keep raising the intensity of our game like this one,” said the coach.

“We welcome as many competitive matches as possible in our development.

“I thought the football was good out there as both teams tried to play fast football… It was an unfortunate (the game got called off) due to the intensity of the game,” added Ng.

TUTONG, 25 Okt – Dengan masih berbaki dua perlawanan, MS ABDB sudah pun mencipta sejarah menjadi pasukan kedua menjulang kejuaraan Liga Super DST sejak liga berprestij itu diperkenalkan pada 2013 menerusi kemenangan meyakinkan, 6-1 ke atas pasukan tercorot, Kilanas FC.

Dalam kejuaraan Liga Super DST pada 2013 dan 2014, pasukan yang menjuarainya ialah Indera SC manakala MS ABDB meraih naib juara.

Perlawanan berat sebelah di Kompleks Sukan Tutong pada malam Sabtu itu pada awalnya kelihatan agak seimbang jika melihat kepada jaringan kedua-dua pasukan yang terikat 1-1 walaupun juara baru berkenaan jelas mendominasi kawalan bola.

Namun pada separuh masa kedua pasukan tentera itu mempamerkan aksi hebat sekali gus membuktikan ia berada pada tahap lebih tinggi terutama pada aspek kecergasan pemainnya berbanding pemain lawan dengan ledakan lima gol pada tiga puluh minit terakhir perlawanan.

Membuka tirai jaringan buat pasukan yang baru menurunkan juara bertahan, Indera SC dari takhtanya itu ialah Soldadu Abdul Azizi bin Ali Rahman pada minit ke-16, namun tatkala babak pertama dilihat berakhir 1-0, Brian Lim Yong Song memberikan Kilanas FC sesuatu untuk diraikan pada minit ke-44 untuk kedudukan 1-1 sebelum rehat.

MS ABDB mengesahkan statusnya sebagai ‘Juara Liga Super DST 2015’ 

selepas menewaskan Kilanas FC 6-1.

Lima belas minit pertama babak kedua tidak menyaksikan sebarang jaringan gol namun masuk minit ke-61, usaha berterusan MS ABDB membuahkan hasil dengan ledakan gol Lans Korporal Mohamad Yusri bin Suhaili bagi pendahuluan 2-1.

‘Amukan’ sebenar MS ABDB bermula dengan jaringan ketiganya oleh Lans Korporal Haji Mohd Yusof bin Haji Mat Yasin pada minit ke-75 dan Kilanas FC tidak berupaya membendung gawangnya daripada terus dibolosi apabila kedudukan berubah 4-1 pada minit ke-78 menerusi jaringan Sarjan Mohammad Haizul Rani bin Metussin.

Dua minit berselang, penjaring utama MS ABDB, Soldadu Abdul Azizi mendapat gol keduanya malam itu untuk terus mematahkan semangat pemain Kilanas FC untuk kedudukan bertambah selesa buat MS ABDB pada kedudukan 5-1.

Ketika masa sebenar perlawanan sudah berlalu, MS ABDB masih belum puas meraikan kejuaraan yang baru dikecapi sehingga berjaya menambah jaringan pada masa kecederaan, minit ke-90+2, kali ini disumbangkan oleh Soldadu Mohammad Fadhli bin Haji Awang Salleh.

Kemenangan penuh bergaya pada Minggu Ke-7 Pusingan Kedua Liga Super DST 2015 itu memastikan kejuaraan tidak akan terlepas lagi dari genggaman MS ABDB walau apapun keputusan dua perlawanan terakhirnya nanti termasuk perlawanan penutup tirai edisi ketiga liga berkenaan menentang Indera SC pada malam 16 November nanti.

MS ABDB kini mengutip 45 mata tatkala Indera SC yang kini mengumpul 32 mata dari 14 permainan secara matematiknya hanya akan berjaya mengumpul 44 mata maksimum jika memenangi keempat-empat baki perlawanannya, sementara Najip i-Team yang kini di tangga ketiga dengan 30 mata dari 15 permainan hanya akan mampu mengumpul 39 mata maksimum.
