KEDUDUKAN TERKINI LIGA PERDANA DST 2014

MS ABDB benam QAF FC 3-0

Ms ABDB gun down QAF FC

|     Fadhil Yunus     |

QAF FC’s three-match unbeaten run came to a grinding halt as a double quick-fire from title-chasing MS ABDB sent them ever closer to the pinnacle of the DST Super League in a 3-0 win at the Balapan Track and Field last night.

It was a messy couple of minutes for the QAF FC defence as goals from Muhd Muhaimin bin Rosmalee who simply had to tap the ball in with the goal at his mercy and Budiman bin Jumat caused further substantial damage all in the first half.

Mohd Baharin bin Hamidon had already given MS ABDB a 16th minute lead as QAF FC found to be in a position of trailing yet again in as many matches this season.

QAF FC had to be in attacking mode and that they did flying out dangerous balls but were cleared away to safety.

QAF FC’s best chance to get their name on the score-sheet came from an attempted volley into the face of goal but was well saved by Muhd Suhandi bin Hj Awg Mahali, who looked assertive behind the sticks. Two of QAF FC’s corners were played short in an effort to perhaps change their attacking play.

A number of yellow cards were brandished in succession for both teams and for similar reasons.

One of the ABDB players had a nasty fall too after colliding into a keeper, who had collected the ball with ease.

Despite already losing twice this season with the MS PDB’s game only came about recently, the army men are now breathing down the neck of the top two in the table.

Meanwhile in another match, Wijaya FC beat Kilanas FC 4-2 at the Berakas Sports Complex.

ROYAL Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) cruised to a 3-0 victory over QAF FC at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas last night.

The win propelled the armymen to second in the league with 12 points, ahead of Najip FC on goal difference.

QAF remain fifth in the 10-team table with eight points.

“Great performance by the team today, all the players contributed in the win and it was a very good win for us,” said MS ABDB manager Pg Muhd Mufid Pg Umar Ariffin in an interview with The Brunei Times after the match.

“We are now second in the table and the title is wide open for the teams in the top five.

“We played very (offensive minded) football, especially in the first-half tonight. The plan was to get early goals… and in the second-half we balanced the play by not committing too much in the attack and strengthening the defence.

“Our goalkeeper made a number of wonderful saves in the game and he was our best player tonight,” said the manager.

Ak Mohd Safri Pg Othman almost put MS ABDB in front five minutes into the game when he was given plenty of space just outside the penalty box, but he lashed his shot wide.

Sam Frank partnered Mohd Adie Arsham Mohd Salleh up front for QAF FC, while winger Muhd Hafis Mahari also assisted in the attack.

Mohd Baharin Hamidon put MS ABDB ahead in the 16th minute with a beautiful curling shot from the edge of the penalty box to beat QAF goalkeeper Junaidi Akim.

Midfielders Mardi Mirza Abdullah Bujang and twin brother Hardi were quiet in the first 20 minutes in the middle of the field with MS ABDB pushing the ball to both flanks using their wingers to create chances.

Mardi Mirza's clever play at the hour mark set Muhd Hafis through into the penalty box, but the 23-year-old saw his weak attempt fly straight into the hands of MS ABDB goalkeeper Mohd Suhandi Hj Awg Mahali.

Former DPMM FC defender Suhaimi Hj Mohd Yussof rattled the bar a minute later with a stunning volley following a corner kick from the right.

MS ABDB caught QAF FC defenders napping and scored two goals in a space of just two minutes.
Mohammad Mohaimeen Rosmalee found the back of the net in the 32nd minute, the 17-year-old rounding the goalkeeper before blasting the ball home.

Budiman Jumat then smashed home MS ABDB’s third goal of the night a minute later from close range in a swift counter attack.

Frank could have scored the best goal in the league so far when he hit his volley from almost half the length of the field but his effort went just a few inches wide.

MS ABDB continued to dominate after the restart keeping possession and they were clearly the better team throughout the remainder of the match.

The other match last night saw Wijaya FC defeated Kilanas FC 4-2 at the Berakas Sports Complex.

Kilanas triumph in goal-fest

Sunday, March 23, 2014

KILANAS FC outgunned Majra United 5-3 in the DST Super League last night at the Berakas Sports Complex.

Mohd Nor Hidayatullah Hj Zaini gave Kilanas the best of starts by finding the back of the net in the second minute.

Mohd Fariz Wasini equalised for Majra in the 24th before Mohd Nor Hidayatullah restored Kilanas’ lead nine minutes later.

It was 3-1, courtesy of Mohd Azimin Mohammad, in the 38th minute but Ahmad Hafiz Said netted for Majra in first half injury time to make it a one-goal deficit at halftime.

Kilanas FC made it a two-goal cushion in the 53rd minute and extended their advantage through Mohd Sallehuddin Pg Sarifuddin two minutes later.

MS PDB rampas takhta Liga Super

 http://mediapermata.brunei-online.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/PAGE24_1903023151559.jpg

Md Bohari (jersi 18) meraikan gol kemenangan MS PDB bersama Ketua Pasukan
Md Syarafuddin Hamdi Haji Talip (jersi 3).

– Hasrulraizan

MS PDB displace Najip FC at DST Super League summit

Wednesday, March 19, 2014

THE Royal Brunei Police Force Sports Council (MS PDB) defeated Kilanas FC 2-1 to move to the top the DST Super League last night.

With 15 points from five wins and a loss, the policemen now lead Najip FC by two points - though the latter have a game in hand.

Both MS PDB and Kilanas dished out quality play, though Kilanas held the slight edge in the early minutes.
MS PDB’s Jasrimah Hj Johari eventually put his team in the lead with a header from Mohd Bohari Mohd Hasan’s corner kick that flew straight into the heart of the penalty box.

They then started to dominate the attack but their energy slowly trickled down leading to the end of the first half.

The half-time break saw a refreshed and more offensive Kilanas FC come out to play at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

Kilanas’s Mohd Nor Hidayatullah Hj Zaini netted their only goal after a series of deflections that led to the equaliser.

Mohd Khalid Wassaddisalleh Hj Mahmud hammered in the first shot, which deflected to Pg Mohd Sallehudin Pg Sarifudin - who then sent in an attempt which Hidayatullah finished off.

Kilanas carried on with some impressive attacks before MS PDB’s Mohd Bohari took back the lead in the 70th minute.

MS PDB’s Mohd Nazirul Arsat assisted the goal by pulling Kilanas’s defence towards him on the right flank before laying off the ball to Mohd Bohari who was left with a wide open shot.

MS PDB’s coach Staff Sgt Sahrin Hj Md Jaya wasn’t worried when his team were held at 1-1 by Kilanas FC.

“When they equalised I was still confident because it was only the start of the second half and there was still plenty of time,” Sahrin told The Brunei Times.

“In the first half, we had a number of chances and we could’ve gotten three or four goals.

“The game was a little bit slow in the second half and Kilanas FC pressured us with long-balls,” added Sahrin.

The Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) took out Jerudong FC 5-2 in last night’s other match at the Berakas Sports Complex.

MS ABDB’s goals were scored through Mohd Baharin Hamidon in the first minute, Mohd Khairuddin Abd Kadir in the sixth minute, Affendy Hj Akup in the 34th and 68th minute and Muhd Muhaimin Rosmalee in the 56th minute.

Mohd Esmendy Brahim (14th minute) and Mohd Bazli Mohd Said (28th minute) scored for Jerudong.

Abdul Hakim’s late strike gives Wijaya share of spoils

Sunday, March 16, 2014

WIJAYA FC managed to salvage a point as they held Jerudong FC to a 2-2 draw in the DST Super League last night.

Abdul Hakim Mohd Musliano was the hero for the club, netting both goals in the game at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

“I am very happy with the result, but I am not happy with how we performed tonight,” said Wijaya’s manager Ahyana Hj Tali in an interview with The Brunei Times after the match.

“It was very disappointing to see some of our players struggling to perform for a full 90 minutes and their fitness level is low.

“We matched Jerudong well in the first-half, but in the second-half the players were exhausted and we were lucky to get the goal late in the game,” he said.

Abdul Hakim put Wijaya ahead four minutes into the game with a powerful shot from 25 metres out.

Mohd Asnawi Syazni Abdul Idris should have equalised a few minutes later when he was picked out by Mohd Faiz Farhan Kamat at the far corner but the 17-year-old sent his header wide.

Abdul Hakim almost doubled Wijaya's lead seconds later but his weak shot went straight into the hands of Jerudong goalkeeper Abdul Samad Hj Gapor.

Reniel Ruani would equalise in the 16th minute in a swift counter-attack initiated by midfielder Mohd Faizul Ambotang whose long ball perfectly met the latter who made a run into the penalty box.

Reniel dribbled past Wijaya's last man before burying his shot at the bottom left corner.

Reniel turned provider in the final minute in the first-half when his throughball from the midfield found Mohd Faiz Farhan Kamat just outside the penalty box.

The striker would gain control of the ball before slamming it into the back of the net to put Jerudong ahead for the first time.

Jerudong continued their momentum in the second-half controlling the game and creating a lot of chances.

Wijaya's midfielders were struggling to contain Jerudong’s midfield duo of Mohd Faiz Farhan and Mohd Faizul in the middle of the park.

Mohd Faizul should have increased Jerudong's lead on the hour mark when he was set through inside the penalty box, but the midfielder would blast the ball wide.

Jerudong created more chances with Reniel volleying his shot wide and Mohd Radzi Tamat slammed the wood work, but they were stunned in the 90th minute when Abdul Hakim equalised to give his team a share of the spoils..

Jerudong now sit in ninth place with only two points to their name, while Wijaya remain in seventh place with four points.

The other game at the Berakas Sports Complex last night saw QAF FC defeated Kilanas FC 6-1. -Ak Fauzi Pg Salleh

 http://mediapermata.brunei-online.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/PAGE20-FC_1303023114772.jpg

MS Polis Diraja Brunei tewaskan MS ABDB 1-0

ROYAL Brunei Police Forces Sports Council (MS PDB) defeated Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) 1-0 in the DST Super League at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas last night.

Mohd Syarafuddin Hamdi Hj Talip scored the only goal for MS PDB to keep his team in second in the league.

They currently have 12 points and trail league leaders Najip FC only on goal difference.
Najip FC defeated Majra United 3-1 at the Berakas Sports Complex in last night’s other match

It was a lacklustre performance by both teams in first half with MS ABDB’s Budiman Jumat and Mohd Baharin Hamidon the only players to threaten from outside the box.

The policemen meanwhile defended well and were very cautious in their approach.

MS ABDB striker Mohd Saiful Rizal Hj Awang played as the lone striker up front and lacked support from his team-mates in the attack.

The second-half saw MS ABDB play more aggressively, utilising their wingers at both flanks to send in dangerous crosses into the penalty area.

However it was the policemen who came up with the first real goal scoring chance when Jasriman Hj Johari struck the cross bar on the hour mark.

MS PDB looked to have scored the first goal a minute later but their attempt was disallowed. Khalid Mustapah managed to nudge the ball into the net in a 50-50 challenge with MS ABDB goalkeeper, Mohd Suhandi Hj Awg Mahali, but the goal was ruled out for a foul.

MS ABDB made tactical changes, bringing in Mohd Mazazizi Mazlan for centre midfielder Mohd Amir Ajmal Mohammad but the winger failed to impact the game.

MS PDB found their rhythm and were the better team in the final 15 minutes of the game.

MS PDB finally broke the drought when Mohd Syarafuddin Hamdi’s powerful free-kick from 20 metres squeezed through the legs of MS ABDB’s goalkeeper before slowly rolling into the net.

“We deserved the victory tonight and I think we should be given the goal when Khalid managed to find the net… He got onto the ball first and I think the referee made wrong decisions,” MS PDB coach Shahrin Hj Mohd Jaya told The Brunei Times after the match.

“We played without our key players tonight including captain Rosmini Hj Abdul Kahar… so it was a bit difficult for u.,”

“We defended very well in the game and in the second-half we created a number of chances and we took the chances… it was a great game,” he added.

Indera, MS PDB kutip 3 mata penuh

Majra United kutip tiga mata penuh

MS ABDB belasah Wijaya FC 7-3

Oleh Hasrulraizan

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 4 Mac – Sepuluh biji gol dicatatkan di Kompleks Sukan Berakas dalam saingan Liga Super DST-NFABD 2014 malam ini apabila MS ABDB membelasah Wijaya FC dengan jaringan 7-3.

MS ABDB mendahului 3-0 menerusi jaringan ketua pasukannya, Soldadu Md Safari Wahit seawal minit ke-2, Soldadu Budiman Jumat pada minit ke-16 dan Lans Koperal Samdani Judin pada minit ke-21.
Bagaimanapun Abdul Haim Md Musliano mencantas pendahuluan itu kepada dua gol saja apabila berjaya menjaringkan gol buat pasukannya, Wijaya FC pada minit ke-27.

Awangku Anaqi Sufi Pengiran Haji Omar Baqi memberikan pasukannya, Wijaya FC peluang kebangkitan apabila menghasilkan gol kedua pasukannya di babak kedua iaitu pada minit ke-54 untuk merubah kedudukan kepada 2-3.

Soldadu Md Safari (Jersi 24 Hitam) menyaksikan bola tendangannya menerjah gawang pada minit ke-2 walaupun
 cuba diselamatkan pertahanan Wijaya FC.

League leaders blame lack of focus for loss

MS PDB captain Rosmini Hj Abd Kahar (C) dribbles the ball past two Najip FC players during their DST Super League game on Feb 12. Najip head coach Johari Hj Bungsu yesterday said his players need to maintain their focus if they are to avoid a repeat of their 2-1 loss to LLRC FT on Monday.BT file
Wednesday, March 5, 2014

LACK of concentration late on led to Najip FC’s downfall in their DST Super League match against Liang Lumut Recreational Club (LLRC) FT on Monday night.

Having won their first three matches to top the table, Najip – who failed to even win one point last year – slipped to their first defeat with a 2-1 loss to LLRC after two goals in the last seven minutes at the Tutong Sports Complex.

Noor Raimi Karim@Syahremy put Najip in front courtesy of a free kick in the 67th minute only for LLRC to equalise through Md Fakhrullah Hj Md Azanie in the 83rd minute before Md Hakeem Keri sealed the comeback victory after a counter-attack three minutes later.

Najip still lead the league though, with LLRC on six points with two wins in as many games.

Speaking to The Brunei Times yesterday, Najip head coach Johari Hj Bungsu said in that order to continue being one step ahead of the rest, the team need to be more “specific and careful.”

“We just lost focus in the last 10 minutes,” said Johari in an interview yesterday.

“Our defender didn’t mark the LLRC striker which allowed them to equalise so the game taught the players a useful lesson - which is to keep their focus for the full 90 minutes.

“Overall it was still a good game and the boys put up a good performance. It was never going to be easy to win four in a row.

“The players know it is important for them to work hard and all of the players are now looking forward to the next game,” he added.

Najip started their campaign with a 2-0 triumph over Kilanas FC on February 3, ending their 10-game losing skid which started at the start of last year’s inaugural season. They then made it back-to-back victories with a hard fought 2-1 triumph over Wijaya FC on February 9 and then shot to the top of the 10-team table after a 3-0 victory over the Royal Brunei Police Forces Sports Council (MS PDB) on February 12.

Asked if a couple of weeks break without any matches could have killed their momentum, Johari had no doubt that it did.

“Yes. We had continuous training but only one friendly match during that period,” he said.

“We will gain back momentum and focus on this week’s training to improve on our finishing,” he concluded.

MAJRA United FC picked up their first three points in the DST Super League last night after defeating QAF FC 2-1 at the Balapan Track and Field in Berakas.

Faizal Mohammad and Mohd Azim Said found the net each for Majra United in the win while Mohd Abu Bakar Mahari scored QAF’s only goal of the night.

With the win Majra United now climb to the seventh spot with three points while QAF fell to eighth with only two points to their name.

“It was a very nervous win for us, but in the end I am very happy with three points tonight,” said Majra United assistant manager, Hj Mahadi Hj Md Zain, in an interview with The Brunei Times after the match.
“Pg Salehuddin Pg Damit performed very well in the defence tonight, but we had to take him out in the second-half due to injury, and we were a bit shaky without him,”

“But I am very happy with the win and we got to get ready for our next game against Najip FC,” he added.
Majra United started brightly in the first-half creating a number of chances but failed to find a way past QAF's defence.

QAF gradually picked up their game with midfielder Mardi Mirza Abdullah Bujang spearheading their charge on the pitch, creating several goal scoring chances for his teammates.

Mohd Adie Arsham Mohd Salleh should have put QAF in front in the 20th minute when he was set through into the penalty box by Mardi Mirza but his shot was blocked by Majra United skipper Pg Salehuddin.
Pg Salehuddin was rock solid at the back for Majra United. The former DPMM FC defender was signed by Majra United earlier this season.

Faizal put Majra ahead in the 28th minute in the first-half when he made a shot from just outside the penalty box to beat QAF goalkeeper Junaidi Akim in goal.

QAF almost replied a few minutes later when Petrus Jumat made a shot from 30 metres out but his attempt was parried away by Majra United goalkeeper Mohd Sahan Mumtazali.

QAF’s Micky Anak Gandi was sent packing in the 42nd minute after his second booking, following a dangerous tackle from behind on Faizal.

The second-half saw QAF dominate the first 20 minutes of the game.

Majra United became complacent with their lead and they were punished in the 81st minute when Mohd Abu Bakar Mahari scored from the near post following a long ball from the midfield.

Stunned by the equaliser, Majra United picked up their pace and midfielder Ak Yura Indera Putera Pg Yunos was instructed to help out in the attack.

The strategy paid off when a through ball initiated by the midfielder ended up at the feet of Muhd Azim who tapped the ball home from the far corner in the 89th minute.

The other match last night saw Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) thrashed Wijaya FC 7-3 in a thriller at the Berakas Sports Complex.
