Jerudong kejutkan MS Polis

Walau bagaimanapun separuh masa kedua menyaksikan kebangkitan kedua-dua buah pasukan apabila masing-masing mempunyai peluang awal untuk mendahului, namun kecekapan kedua-dua penjaga gol menafikan semua peluang baik berkenaan.

Jerudong end campaign by shooting down MS PDB

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

JERUDONG FC displayed a potent second-half attacking performance as they defeat Royal Brunei Police Forces Sports Council (MS PDB) 2-1 in the DST Super League at the Balapan Track and Field at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas last night.

With the win, Jerudong have finished all their games in the league this season.

They sit in seventh position in the league with 9 points. MS PDB meanwhile, remains fourth with 13 points.

"I am very proud with how my players played in the game tonight. They were very determined and worked well together. It was a very good team performance," said Jerudong manager Hj Jalaluddin Hj Ghazali in an interview with The Brunei Times after the match.

"This is our final game. I look forward to next season. We have good young players in the team. I will most likely to keep these players for next season," he saidd.

MS PDB managed to repel wave after wave of attacks by Jerudong with a disciplined display in the first half.

Jerudong twice penetrated down the right wing and won a number of corners but failed to find the back of the net.

They further picked up the intensity after the break, finally finding a breakthrough in the 58th minute through Asnawi Syazni Abd Aziz who seized possession near the centre of the field before powering into the penalty area where he sent the ball to teammate Abu Bakar Mahari.

The striker cut the ball back to Asnawi Syazni who smashed the ball into the net past goalkeeper Mohd Khairol Amin Hj Zainuddin.

Jerudong took just ten more minutes to make it 2-0.

Dahlan Sapar converted the penalty after referee Endy Vyzunny Hj Zainuddin awarded Jerudong a penalty against MS PDB's Rokiman Kisut for a handball.

Hanafizul Helmi Hanafiah should have made it 3-0 few minutes later when he broke down the left flank and squared the ball for an unmarked Mohd Enddy Soehardy Sapar to volley, but his shot was blocked by an MS PDB defender.

MS PDB tried to retaliate and find their way back into the game but the Jerudong players were quick to close them down on every possession.

They almost pulled one goal back when captain Rosmini Hj Abdul Kahar put in a perfect cross for Jasriman Johari but the midfielder sent a bullet header inches wide.

Jasriman would not squander a second opportunity.

This time he timely tapped home Rosmini's swift cross from the left in the 76th minute to put the scores at 2-1 but Jerudong would respond by tightening their defence to hold on to their one goal lead until the final whistle, ending their campaign with only second win in the season.

Jerudong FC End On A High Note

Bandar Seri Begawan - Jerudong FC finished their first DST Super League season on a high after edging MS PDB 2-1 in their season finale at the Berakas Track and Field Complex last night.
A drab first half saw the two sides enter the tunnel deadlocked with the first stalemate this season looking the most likely result.

However, Jerudong FC had other plans, and Asnawi Syazni bin Abd Aziz's goal in the 58th minute busted the game open.

Dahlan bin Zainuddin fired home 10 minutes later to double Jerudong FC's lead, before PC 4828 Jasriman bin Hj Johari pulled one back for MS PDB in the 76th minute, although it was merely a consolation, as MS PDB's chances of finishing second in the league were all but blown out of the water.

Meanwhile, Majra FC will be looking to consolidate third spot with a win against QAF FC on Saturday, whilst MS ABDB meet Kilanas the following day.

Wijaya FC take on Najip FC in the final game of the week, before what looks set to be the title decider between leaders MS ABDB and Indera SC on March 10.

Jerudong FC battle MS PDB in DST Super League

JERUDONG FC yesterday admitted their season hasn't exactly gone according to plan.

Though they have been one of the most consistent teams in local football, Jerudong who are currently eighth have failed to make their mark in this year's DST Super League which they close out with a game against the Royal Brunei Police Force Sports Council (MS PDB) tonight.

Speaking to The Brunei Times before their season finale, Jerudong manager Hj Md Jalaluddin Hj Ghazali believes his team are capable of finishing higher.

"We were hoping for a top-three finish at the start of the league, so personally as the manager, of course I'm disappointed - but I'm not blaming the players. Though the players have been playig well there were mistakes on the defensive end. All the games we've lost have been by one-goal margins," he said.

The table certainly backs his argument up, with Jerudong the only team in the second-half of the league with a positive goal difference.

A win against the policemen, who are fourth and have an outside shot at finishing the season second, looks improbable.

Hj Md Jalaluddin, though, is confident his men can pull off an upset. "Though Jerudong are in the bottom-half of the table, we are still determined to win the game."

If it is one thing that Hj Md Jalaluddin can count on though, it'll be his players' commitment. They proved their never-say-die attitude in their last match against Liang Lumut Recreational Club (LLRC) Football Team on February 8 when they came from behind to snatch a late draw.

The match against MS PDB kicks off at the Balapan Track & Field in the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas at 8:15pm.

MS PDB representatives could not be reached to comment for this story.

This week's matches mark the penultimate round of games before a potential title-decider between table-toppers Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) and second-placed Indera Sports Club on March 10.

Other matches will see QAF FC face Majra United FC on Saturday. A win in what will be Majra's last game might be enough for the 2011 DST Group Brunei League Cup champions to consolidate their spot at third.

MS ABDB meet Kilanas on Sunday knowing that Indera will pounce on any slip-up the army men make.

The last game of the week will see Wijaya FC take on Najip FC on Sunday, with the former looking for their third win of the season while Najip hope to finally be able to win a point.

DST SUPER LEAGUE FIXTURE - TENTH WEEK

DST Super League heats up

Tuesday, February 19, 2013

INDERA Sports Club will be hoping for an unlikely scenario when DST Super League title rivals Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) take on Kilanas FC on March 3 - dropped points.

The country's top-tier football competition takes a break this week for the 29th National Day celebrations, but when it resumes next Tuesday, local football fans can expect the action to come raining down thick and fast.

A side brimming with national players, Indera's consistent showing over the past nine weeks has set them up as the only team capable of challenging MS ABDB for this year's trophy.

Indera trail the soldiers by three points heading into the final two weeks, and with MS ABDB collecting 19 points out of a possible 21 so far, their only blemish a 2-2 draw against Majra FC, it might be too much to ask for ninth-placed Kilanas to take more points off the army men.

Majra are currently third in the 10-team table, equal on points with Indera but with one game less to play.

Majra will close out their campaign with a tie against QAF FC on March 2, but even if they pick up all three points in that match, their poor goal difference means the DST Super League is out of their sight this season.

A win for fifth-placed QAF, on the other hand, will see them pull level on points with Majra, though their goal difference will not allow them to rise any higher than fourth.

QAF will need to beat Majra by at least six goals for them to climb to third, an unlikely outcome considering the form QAF have been in lately.

Fourth-placed Royal Brunei Police Force Sports Council (MS PDB) also have a chance at displacing Majra when they face Jerudong FC in the first Week 10 match next Tuesday, both teams enjoying the same goal difference and the policemen only three points adrift of Majra.

Another tie to look out for on Week 10 will be the March 3 match between Wijaya FC and Najip FC, the latter looking to pick up their first points of the season.

Wins for Indera, Majra and QAF in last week's ninth round were crucial in their bid to end the season on a high, Indera beating Kilanas 4-0 on Friday, Majra edging Liang Lumut Recreation Club Football Team 1-0 on Saturday and QAF going past Wijaya FC 4-1 on Sunday.

A strong showing from their forwards helped QAF beat Wijaya, the latter's poor form in front of goal contributing to their fifth loss of the season.

Majra's Mohd Syarafuddin Ahmad sealed them all three points against the Belait-based LLRC, the substitute's 47th minute curler proving to be the only goal of the night.

And not for the first time, Mohammad Azwan Ali Rahman was the difference for Indera after the national midfielder scored a brace in the 4-0 result against Kilanas.

Indera's captain wasn't the only one who stood out on Friday night though, with goalkeeper Ak Omar Nur Aqammadin Pg Salehuddin, who saved a penalty and made a number of key saves, also shining.

Indera know that they can't keep their foot off the gas though, and their match against the MS PDB on March 5 will be vital in ensuring they keep hot on the heels of MS ABDB.

MS ABDB and Indera are favourites in their ties against Kilanas and MS PDB, and if the table-toppers win their respective matches, March 10 will be the date to mark on calendars.

In a tie that was scheduled months ago, MS ABDB face Indera in the last game of the season - and one that is now looking to be a title-decider.

QAF FC menang bergaya

Bandar Seri Begawan - QAF FC responded to their shock 3-1 defeat at the hands of 10-man MS ABDB with a convincing 4-1 win over Wijaya FC at the Berakas Track and Field Complex last night.

Ratano bin Hj Tuah set the home side on their way with a well placed shot across the Wijaya FC keeper which found the bottom left corner in the 12th minute. Wijaya FC, perhaps prematurely, threw men forward in search of an equaliser, and piled some heavy pressure on the QAF FC backline.

That was arguably the root of their demise, as Petrus bin Jumat found himself in acres of space down the right wing on the counter, cutting inside the Wijaya FC 18-yard box and squaring for Adie Arsham bin Md Salleh, who pummelled the ball into the net three minutes before the break.

A Wan Firdaus bin Hj Hamidon goal in the 49th minute threatened a comeback, but Riwandi bin Wahit restored QAF FC's two-goal cushion, effectively sealing the win in the 67th minute. Mardi Mirza bin Abdullah Bujang scored QAF's fourth goal in 90 + 3.

QAF punish a wasteful Wijaya FC

Monday, February 18, 2013

QAF FC punished a wasteful Wijaya FC side 4-1 in the DST Super league at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Complex in Berakas last night.

"We were very wasteful tonight, we could have won the game. Our strikers could have done better, but I guess we didn't have any luck in the game," said Wijaya's manager Ahyana Hj Tali in an interview with The Brunei Times last night.

"We have had problems with (the number of) players this season. We only had three substitutes on the bench tonight and it was very difficult," he explained.

Ahyana handed Azman Hj Matzin his first start last night, the goalkeeper coming into the side in place of the injured Mohd Nashruddin Selamat.

Ratano Hj Tuah put QAF infront early in the 12th minutes when he curled a stunning shot into the bottom corner past Azman in Wijaya's goal.

Wijaya's Abd Hakim Mohd Musliano should have equalised five minutes later but the left-back fired wide. Wijaya threatened again moments later when Ak Mohammad Anaqi Sufi Pg Hj Omar's clever pass found Wan Firdaus Hj Hamidon in space and the midfielder lashed his shot just wide.

However, QAF gradually grew into the game, and they doubled the lead in the 42nd minute when a through pass from Mardi Mirza Abdullah Bujang found a waiting Adie Arsham Mohd Salleh who had the simple task of tapping the ball into the net.

Wijaya started strongly in the second-half and they pulled one back in the 49th minute via Wan Firdaus Hj Hamidon.

However the energetic start that came after the break was short-lived when QAF's Riwandi Wahit latched beautifully onto a throughpass by Adie Arsham before calmly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper in the 67th minute.

Mardi Mirza made it 4-1 in the final minute as QAF walked away with the three points. The win puts them up into fifth with 13 points, while Wijaya remain seventh in the league table.

"It is very important to comeback with a win after last week's defeat to MS ABDB (Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council)," said QAF manager Rahim Hj Daud.

MS ABDB came back from a goal down to secure a 3-1 victory over QAF FC at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas on Wednesday.

"We will play Majra FC and Najip FC in our remaining matches. We need to get maximum points if we are to finish in the top three spot in the league this season," he added. "Our strikers did very well in the game. They took their chances very well."

Sunday, February 17, 2013

MAJRA FC edged Liang Lumut 1-0 in the DST Super League at the at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Complex in Berakas last night.

It was not their best performance in the league but the win put Majra, who notched their fourth win in eight games, at third place in the table with 16 points. However Royal Brunei Police Forces Sports Council (MS PDB) can push them down a place if they win against Jerudong FC at the Balapan Track and Field next Tuesday.

"It was a great game. We were without number of key players in the game. But the players did very well tonight, the only problem were their fitness. I am very pleased with three pints tonight," said Majra FC assistant coach Hj Mahadi Hj Mohd Zain in an interview with The Brunei Times after the match.

"Our target now is to be in the top three. Of course previously we targeted to win the tournament. But we dropped many points with four draws this season. It is very difficult to win the league now. We will play QAF FC in the final match. We hope to get three points from the match as we are aiming for top third finish," he added.

Majra rotated their side for last week's draw against Wijaya FC. But last night it was business as usual. Julremi Hj Zaini, Faizal Mohammad and Captain Shahremy Hj Karim spearheaded the attack. National player midfielder Abang Norsilmy Abang Hj Taha and former DPMM FC defender Yusof Mohd Salleh were the only major absentees.

Both teams started strongly in the first-half but there were no real chances. It was becoming an open, fast-paced game with neither midfield have much control. It was Majra who finally broke the deadlock in the 47th minutes via Mohd Syarafuddin Ahmad.

Majra's Mohd Ikhmal Hakim Hj Mohd Yunos tried to wriggle through on the edge of the LLRC area only to be halted by LLRC defender. The ball ran loose to substitute Mohd Syarafuddin 20 metres out. He took it in his stride, looked up and curled a stunning shot into the top corner two minutes into the second half.

Majra continued to look superior in all areas. LLRC goalkeeper Mohd Fakhrul Amin Sanif had to snaffle Julremi shot around the post a few minutes later and, from the corner, Faizal hooked a shot into the keeper's hands.

But it was never going to be a full procession of Majra chances. LLRC are far too determined for that. Nur Hazwan Khan Asmah Khan was denied twice in a minor goal-mouth scramble.

If anything LLRC were starting to look the stronger side. Safuan Juhar slipped the ball into the path of Mohammad Hakeem Keri just inside the area but his shot went straight into the goalkeeper.

Majra almost extended their lead when Julremi made a great solo effort by dribbling past four LLRC players before blasting his shot wide. But once again LLRC battled back with Captain Hj Bahrin Hj Sahari tested Majra's goalkeeper Mohd Najib Asri with a stinging long-range shot. However it was too late as Majra walked away with three points in the game.

Action continues today with QAF taking on Wijaya at the Balapan Track and Field at 4.15pm.

Indera SC tumpaskan Kilanas FC 4-0

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Jumaat, 15 Februari.

Haji Omar Haji Md. Jamil selaku Ketua Jurulatih Pasukan Indera SC mengakui beberapa pemain pasukannya kini menjalani latihan bersama pasukan kebangsaan dan ketiadaan berlatih bersama sedikit sebanyak menggugat keseimbangan mereka.

MD. Nazirul Nazreen cuba menghalang pergerakan Abd.

Omar Nur Aqammadin.

Pasukan Indera SC mendahului apabila dihadiahkan gol percuma menerusi Md.

Tiga minit separuh masa kedua bermula pasukan Indera SC mengukuhkan kedudukan apabila Md. Akmal Hakeem berjaya menambah jaringan menjadikan kedudukan 2-0.

Md.

Indera SC Whip Kilanas FC 4-0

Bandar Seri Begawan - Indera SC cemented second place in the DST Super League standings with a 4-0 drubbing of Kilanas FC at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium yesterday.
Kilanas FC were unlucky to be down 1-0 at the break after Mohd Razi bin Hj Lamit put through his own net in the 39th minute.

But an improved second half from Indera SC saw Mohammad Aqmal Hakeem Abd Hamid net just three minutes after the restart, before the league's top scorer, Mohammad Azwan bin Ali Rahman, scored just moments later.

Azwan provided the icing on the cake with a goal in injury time and ensured Indera SC were still clinging onto the coattails of MS ABDB, who look a shoo-in to claim the title with two games left to play and a three-point lead at the top of the table.

CAPTAIN Mohammad Azwan Ali Rahman scored a brace as he led Indera Sports Club (SC) to a 4-0 thrashing of Kilanas FC in the DST Super League yesterday.

The victory saw last season's DST FA Cup finalist moved within three points of leaders, and reigning DST FA Cup champions, Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB).

With MS ABDB not in action this week, and with only two more games to play, Indera desperately needed a win to put pressure on their bitter rivals and they did just that at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.

The performance of Indera goalkeeper Ak Omar Nur Aqammadin Pg Salehuddin, who saved a penalty in the game, was particularly notable, making a number of great saves to maintain his team's lead after Kilanas midfielder Mohd Razi Hj Lamit's own goal had put Indera in front.

"It was a very important win for us and I am very happy that we managed to get three points," said Indera's coach Hj Omar Hj Mohd Jamil.

"There are only two games left. We will play MS PDB (Royal Brunei Police Forces Sports Council) first and will face MS ABDB after that.

"If we win against MS PDB, it will be down to our final game against MS ABDB.

"We could have scored more than 10 goals and we missed a lot of chances in the game.

Our striker Hamizan Abdul Aziz is serving one match ban because of two yellow cards, so we put Mohammad Azwan and Mohammad Aqmal Hakeem Abd Hamid up front," added the coach.

Indera got their noses in front courtesy of Mohd Razi, who diverted a shot from an Indera player into his own net in the 39th minute.

Indera midfielder Mohd Nur Ikhwan Othman went wide with a couple of headers and Kilanas' goalkeeper Mohammad Faisal Hashim turned away Mohammad Aqmal Hakeem Abd Hamid's shot in the final minutes of the first-half.

The nearest Kilanas came to scoring was when Mohammad Azmi Hj Zainin strode onto a deflected Izzul Wazien Osmans cross.

He timed his half-volley well, only for Indera goalkeeper Ak Omar Nur Aqammadin to respond with a brilliant save.

Indera started the second-half in their typical fashion, controlling possession and looking potent in attack forcing goalkeeper Mohammad Faisal into a smart save early on from Mohammad Aqmal Hakeem.

But the goalkeeper could do nothing about Mohammad Aqmal Hakeem's shot from near the post in the 48th minute.

Mohammad Azwan made it 3-0 nine minutes later with a great solo effort from the left.

The skipper dribbled past two Kilanas defenders before squeezing the ball past the goalkeeper's legs.

Indera's tempo slowed down in the final 20 minutes and Kilanas were looking the better team with their high intensity on offense.

Pushing forward on numerous occasions, they were awarded a penalty in the 72nd minute after a handball by Sahrin Momin.

However, Kilanas failed to convert as Mohd Razi's penalty was brilliantly saved by Ak Omar Nur Aqammadin.

Mohammad Azwan would add the fourth in the 90th when he curled the ball into the bottom corner after latching onto a through ball from Mohd Nur Ikhwan.

Action continues tonight with Liang Lumut Recreational Club Football Team taking on Majra United FC at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Complex in Berakas.
