THE Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) returned to the summit of the DST Super League after an 11-1 pounding of Najip FC last night.

SLD Abdul Azizi Abd Rahman was the biggest factor on offence with six goals to his name at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.

MS ABDB are now on 16 points from six matches followed by Indera SC and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces respectively with 13 points each.

Najip remain routed at the basement of the 10-team table with no points from seven games and have let in a staggering 60 goals in their campaign.

It took MS ABDB 11 minutes to break the deadlock after SLD Md Baharin Hj Hamidon scored from inside the box.

SLD Mohammad Safari Wahit should have doubled the lead but his header was saved by Najip goalkeeper Md Fuad Lasa. He pounced on the rebound but Najip were saved by the crossbar the second time round.

SLD Budiman Jumat made it 2-0 after his cross from the left unexpectedly floated into the net in the 29th minute.

He almost got a brace in the 32nd minute but his freekick was denied by the post.

KPL (U) Mohammad Hardi Hj Matassan got on the rebound but could only sky his effort.

SLD Abdul Azizi got his first of the night in the 37th minute after he beat Najip goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation.

It was 4-0 almost immediately at the restart with KPL (U) Mohammad Hardi getting his name on the scoresheet after rifling in his shot from inside the box.

SLD Abdul Azizi's next goal came as a controversial one which sparked protests from the Najip players.

SLD Md Baharin had skipped past the Najip keeper and had the ball rolling into the net. Despite that, SLD Abdul Azizi ran to tap in the ball for the goal to make it 5-0 just before the halftime whistle.

MS ABDB made it 6-0 immediately after the break with SLD Abdul Azizi notching his hat trick after connecting on a corner by SLD Md Baharin.

KPL (U) Mohammad Hardi made it 7-0 two minutes later after heading home a corner.

The scoreboard read 8-0 after SLD Abdul Azizi netted another in the 50th minute.

Najip responded immediately after Mohamad Ali Shofian Hj Akbar sent a cross in for Mohd Asril Kubu to fire into the net to make it 8-1.

It was a confidence builder for Najip who performed unlike the team that let in 27 goals in the past two matches.

They didn't allow the armymen to add to the tally for almost half an hour with good defending and good stops by Md Fuad.

Luck deserted MS ABDB who were denied by the crossbar twice in that span.

SLD Abdul Azizi netted his fifth of the match after heading home to make it 9-1 in the 79th minute.

Even MS ABDB goalkeeper SLD Muhammad Suhandi Hj Mahali got his name on the scoresheet after scoring via a penalty in the 82nd minute after an MS ABDB player was brought down in the box.

MS ABDB completed their route with SLD Abdul Azizi scoring one more in the 83rd minute to make it 11-1.

MS ABDB manager, Major Azaman Hj Hussin, felt that it was a good result despite squandering a handful of chances.

"It is a good score actually and I'm satisfied with the results. But there is still a margin to catchup on Indera SC (in terms of) goal difference," said Major Azaman in an interview with The Brunei Times after the triumph.

"We made some mistakes and we will need to rectify them to play better in the upcoming games," he added.

"Right now they (Indera SC) are pushing hard and they will not want to lose any games. I think it might actually go down the wire till the last game of the season when we play each other," he continued.

The competition continues with Jerudong FC playing Wijaya FC tonight at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas at 8.15.
