QAF FC punished a wasteful Wijaya FC side 4-1 in the DST Super league at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Complex in Berakas last night.

"We were very wasteful tonight, we could have won the game. Our strikers could have done better, but I guess we didn't have any luck in the game," said Wijaya's manager Ahyana Hj Tali in an interview with The Brunei Times last night.

"We have had problems with (the number of) players this season. We only had three substitutes on the bench tonight and it was very difficult," he explained.

Ahyana handed Azman Hj Matzin his first start last night, the goalkeeper coming into the side in place of the injured Mohd Nashruddin Selamat.

Ratano Hj Tuah put QAF infront early in the 12th minutes when he curled a stunning shot into the bottom corner past Azman in Wijaya's goal.

Wijaya's Abd Hakim Mohd Musliano should have equalised five minutes later but the left-back fired wide. Wijaya threatened again moments later when Ak Mohammad Anaqi Sufi Pg Hj Omar's clever pass found Wan Firdaus Hj Hamidon in space and the midfielder lashed his shot just wide.

However, QAF gradually grew into the game, and they doubled the lead in the 42nd minute when a through pass from Mardi Mirza Abdullah Bujang found a waiting Adie Arsham Mohd Salleh who had the simple task of tapping the ball into the net.

Wijaya started strongly in the second-half and they pulled one back in the 49th minute via Wan Firdaus Hj Hamidon.

However the energetic start that came after the break was short-lived when QAF's Riwandi Wahit latched beautifully onto a throughpass by Adie Arsham before calmly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper in the 67th minute.

Mardi Mirza made it 4-1 in the final minute as QAF walked away with the three points. The win puts them up into fifth with 13 points, while Wijaya remain seventh in the league table.

"It is very important to comeback with a win after last week's defeat to MS ABDB (Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council)," said QAF manager Rahim Hj Daud.

MS ABDB came back from a goal down to secure a 3-1 victory over QAF FC at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas on Wednesday.

"We will play Majra FC and Najip FC in our remaining matches. We need to get maximum points if we are to finish in the top three spot in the league this season," he added. "Our strikers did very well in the game. They took their chances very well."
