DPMM friendly ends in tie

A FRIENDLY match between DPMM FC and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Jerudong Mini Stadium yesterday.

The match was aimed at preparing both teams for their respective leagues. DPMM FC's last match in the Singapore League (S-League) was on September 29 against Home United FC and their next match will be against Woodlands Wellington FC on October 21. Meanwhile, MS ABDB is preparing for the second round of the DST Brunei FA Cup tournament where they will face QAF FC October 20.

The early minutes of the first half saw DPMM FC's quick one-two passing strategy outplay MS ABDB's short passing tactics, but MS ABDB's four-man defence continued to keep the ball out of danger.

It was in the 24th minute, when a left cornerkick for DPMM FC was caught by MS ABDB's goalkeeper and immediately kicked it out to the middle of the field where MS ABDB went for the counter attack, a through ball to 15656 LCpl Ak Md Safri Pg Othman; scored with his left foot making it 1-0.

The MS ABDB striker scored his second goal just four minutes later making it 2-0 in the 28th minute.

DPMM FC's pressing tactics proved to be an asset when a high cross from the right went to an unmarked Patrick Roberto Daniel Da Silva, playing upfront for DPMM FC shot the ball into the left hand corner of the goal in the 36th minute, to make it 2-1.

It did not take MS ABDB long to quickly regain their composure with 16315 Sld Budiman Jumat scoring a minute later to restore their two goal lead at 3-1.

The second half saw DPMM FC score two more goals to tie the game. Da Silva scored again in the 57th minute.

The 87th minute saw DPMM FC's Osman Basiru level the scores at 3-3 when DPMM FC played neat one-two passing resulting in a goal from Basiru's run into the penalty box.

For both DPMM FC and MS ABDB, the friendly was a key a warm-up session with both sides missing players who are in action for the national side in Myanmar.The Brunei Times
