THE Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) and Indera Sports Club (Indera SC) are ready to face off in the DST Charity Shield on Wednesday.
The DST Super League curtain-raiser will kick off at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium at 8.15pm, with both MS ABDB and Indera SC looking to win the trophy for the second time.
MS ABDB won the DST Super League for the second time in a row last year and also claimed the DST FA Cup for the fifth consecutive time.
Indera finished second in the DST Super League, earning them the right to meet MS ABDB in the DST Charity Shield.
Both teams feature a mixture of old and new players this year, although MS ABDB might have the slight advantage as they have been training since February.
“Our training has not been as good as MS ABDB because of time and field restraints,” said Indera SC coach Mohd Yussaini Hj Said after today’s DST Charity Shield press conference at NFABD House.
“MS ABDB are a strong competitor and we will make the necessary steps and play with the right tactics to give MS ABDB a tough fight.
MS ABDB coach Sgt Haji Mesli Haji Dullah stressed that despite a successful 2016 – in which they won both of the country’s main tournaments – the team have not lost any of their competitive drive.
“It’s always important to win trophies,” he said.
“Indera are also a strong team, this game will also help us to see how the new season will play out and how well our team has gelled,” he added.
