Kemenangan pertama MS ABDB

NAJIP FC picked up another three points after a 2-1 victory over Wijaya FC in the DST Super League last night.

They have now racked up six points from two games to sit second on the table behind the Royal Brunei Police Sports Council (MS PDB) who lead by goal difference.

Najip FC started the match off as the stronger side through controlling the ball as well as finding a few good chances at goal.

Wijaya FC finally found their pace to push back going into the 10th minute but it was a short lived moment for them as Najip FC took control once again.

Najip FC’s superb play eventually led to Abang Nor Silmy Abang Hj Taha opening goal in the 31st minute at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.

Their sensational goal started half-way mark at the foot of Noor Raimi @ Shahremy Karim who powered down the right flank before sending a spot on pass to Mohd Aminuddin Zakwan Mohd Tahir who brought it into the penalty box.

Mohd Aminuddin managed to send a quick pass across the penalty box in front of Wijaya FC’s goalkeeper, Muhd Nashruddin @ Muizzaddien Selamat, before Abang Nor Silmy tapped it in.

Najip FC continued to dominate sending in a number of shots leading up to half time.

Wijaya FC finally found their equaliser through Abg Muhd Fakhri Abg Jaludin’s counter-attack in the 62nd minute.
Abg Muhd Fakhri was allowed to go on an easy run after Najip FC froze in attack after they felt they should have been awarded a foul around Wijaya FC’s penalty box.

Wijaya FC took advantage of the situation and booted the ball down the field that led to a chase down between Abg Muhd and Najip FC’s last man before he slid the ball under the goalkeeper, Ron Junior Philip.

Najip FC, through Noor Raimi, took back their lead with a penalty kick that was awarded to them in the 72nd minute.

Najip FC’s Mohd Daud Hj A Tengah received the only red card of the match after picking up his second yellow through a sliding tackle in the 89th minute.

Head coach Johari Bungsu felt the game was content with a 2-1 win but thought his players’ performance still isn’t at the level he wants them to be at.

“I know Wijaya FC are experienced players, which adds more pressure to Najip FC because of the results last year,” explained the new coach who took over a team that didn’t pick up a single point last season.

“The new management are going to have pressure with all the games because the players need to win every one of them.

“The players need to be consistent for the whole 90 minutes mentally and emotionally.

“It was the referee’s decision and I can’t comment on the calls he makes,” said Johari.

Najip FC are scheduled to take on MS PDB this Wednesday at the Balapan Track and Field.

“We have to work hard in training because I know the policemen are very fit,” added Johari.

MS PDB defeated Majra United 2-0 at the Berakas Sports Complex in last night’s other match.
Mohd Zulkhairie Hj Md Salleh scored the opener in the 60th minute, which was shortly followed by Khalid Mustapah’s goal seven minutes later.

The action continues today with Indera SC taking on QAF FC at the Berakas Sports Complex while the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council face Kilanas FC at the Balapan Track and Field at 8pm.

Jerudong FC will clash with Liang Lumut Recreational Club Football Team at the Padang Arena in Seria at 4pm.

Indera SC kutip mata penuh

MS PDB start season with win

Monday, February 3, 2014

THE Royal Brunei Police Force Sports Council (MS PDB) started off their DST Super League campaign with a 3-0 win over QAF FC yesterday.

Sumbangsih Cup champions, the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council faced a shock 3-2 defeat to Liang Lumut Recreational Club Football Team at the Padang Arena in Seria in yesterday’s other match.

Another surprise came at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas where Najip FC, who didn’t pick up a single point last season, went past Kilanas 2-0 FC in their first game of the season - a morale boosting vistory for sure.

QAF FC and MS PDB started off the game with a bang, getting straight into aggressive offensive play.
MS PDB were eventually awarded a free kick just 5m out of the box, which saw Mohd Bohari Mohd Hasan sneak the ball past QAF FC’s wall before seeing it deflect off the woodwork and into the goal for a 1-0 lead.

QAF FC’s Mohd Adie Arsham Mohd Saleh was close to equalising five minutes later but he misjudged his header in front of an open goal.

MS PDB were awarded a penalty after QAF FC’s Petrus Jumat went in for a vicious slide tackle on Mohd Zul Khairie Hj Mohd Salleh, which led to the latter’s substitution with Mohd Nazirul Arsat in the 26th minute.

Mohd Bohari went on to capitalise on the chance and found his second of the night after slotting the ball into the bottom right of the goal at the Berakas Sports Complex.

Mohd Adie created another outstanding attempt at goal after making his way through MS PDB’s defence before sending in a screamer to the bottom right corner which was denied by Md Khairol Amin Hj Zainuuddin’s diving save.

QAF FC came out as the stronger pack in the second half and forced MS PDB to clear their lines several times.

Mohd Adie found his way into the penalty box once again but ruined his chances at goal after hitting the right post.

QAF FC’s misfortunes continued after Muhd Hafis Mahari let his pumped-up emotions get to him after a sliding tackle in the 53rd minute.

On a counter-attack down the right flank, Muhd Hafis was hacked down by Norazmiezul Maipaizan Hj Hamidon and made the mistake of pushing a MS PDB player out of the way when trying to get at Norazmiezul.

Both players were shown red cards but that didn’t stop MS PDB from flinging into action leading into the dying minutes.

Substitute Mohd Nazirul finished the night off with a goal to his name after a loose ball in the penalty box rolled to his feet in the 88th minute.

MS PDB manager Staff Sgt Sahrin Hj Md Jaya said his aim for their opening game was to seal the three points.

“It didn’t matter how many goals we won by, so long as we got the win,” said Sahrin, whose team beat QAF FC 4-1 in last year’s fixture.

“The game was a little bit slow because of the pitch, and not only that, the match official wasn’t really consistent because he wasn’t always making the right calls.

“I tried to tell them to keep the ball on our side during the second half, and if they saw a chance, they could try break through QAF FC and attack,” he said, adding that the only change they have to make for their next game would be for left back Norazmiezul.

MS PDB’s next take to the field against Majra United on Saturday while QAF FC take on defending champions Indera SC on Sunday.

Tunas FC edged Setia Perdana 2-1 in DST Premier League action at the Tutong Sports Complex yesterday.
Ahmad Mumtaaz Hj Johor and Rozaini Hj Petra both found the net for Tunas.

Ahmad Mumtaaz broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute to give Tunas a 1-0 lead.

However, Mohd Faisal Ali would equalise for Setia Perdana in the 85th minute.

Rozaini would secure the three points for Tunas after scoring late in the 91st minute.

Over at the Temburong Sports Complex at Batu Apoi, Lun Bawang defeated Kota Rangers 3-0.

Zaim Awat, Christopher Ambon and Delson Jumat all got their names on the scoresheet in the victory.

The DST Premier League kicked off last Sunday with Brunei Shell Recreation Club Football Team (BSRC FT) defeating Tunas 3-1 at the Tutong Sports Complex.

Mohammad Hazman Hamdan provided plenty of firepower for BSRC after scoring a brace.

Teammate Syazwi Mohammad also got his name on the scoresheet in the victory.

Mohammad Hazman broke the deadlock in the 28th minute to give BSRC a 1-0 lead.

Syazwan Azizi Hj Taib would equalise for Tunas 10 minutes later, but Syazwi would put BSRC FT in front again just before the end of the first half to give BSRC FT a 2-1 advantage.

Mohammad Hazman would score his second goal in the 78th minute as BSRC walked away with the three points.

The league was scheduled to start last Friday but was postponed due to unsatisfactory pitch conditions at competition venues after heavy rain.

Indera SC off to winning start

DEFENDING champions Indera Sports Club (SC) kicked off their DST Super League campaign with a 3-2 victory over Jerudong FC at the Berakas Sports Complex last night.

The titleholders now top the table with three points ahead of Wijaya FC, who defeated Majra United 1-0 at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.

“I am very happy that we got three points in our first game of the tournament,” said Indera coach Hj Omar Hj Mohd Jamil in an interview with The Brunei Times after the match.

“It is very important for us to not drop any points early in the season as the other teams have all got stronger and better this year.

“Our fitness level is not there yet and we can see in the second half that Jerudong was pretty much in control of the game.

“We didn’t have enough training for this tournament so I told my players to get as much goals in the first-half.

“In the second-half I changed the formation from 4-4-2 to a more defensive 4-5-1 and we managed to prevent Jerudong from scoring for 45 minutes until they scored their second late in injury time,” he added.

Indera made a bright start to the game after getting themselves ahead in what might be the fastest goal in the league when their striker Mohd Asri Hj Aspar made a great run from the left, dribbled past a few players, before blasting the ball into the top corner in the first minute.

The 18-year old Asri doubled Indera's lead just eight minutes later, this time linking very well with Mohd Iqmal Hakeem Abdul Hamid - who set Mohd Khayrun Salleh free down the right flank to deliver a great cross for Asri, who tapped the ball home from close range.

Mohd Nurikhwan Othman made it 3-0 in the 23rd minute when he beat Jerudong goalkeeper Mohd Aiman Abdullah from just outside the penalty box.

Indera continued to control the game but Jerudong were no pushovers as they kept trying to break Indera's defence with their swift counter attacks.

They were finally rewarded for their efforts when they were given a penalty in the 33rd minute following a reckless challenge by Indera defender Mohd Rakin Ramli inside the penalty.

Dahlan Hj Zainuddin calmly slotted the ball home to give Jerudong hope for a comeback in the second-half.
Jerudong dominated the first 20 minutes of the second half with Mohd Asnawi Syazni Abdul Aziz coming close to score after he was set through inside the penalty box, but the 17-year old would send his shot just wide.

Jerudong once again came close to find the net when Mohd Faizul Ambotang’s brilliant curling shot from 30 metres out was spectacularly saved by Indera's goalkeeper Ak Omar Nur Aqamaddin Pg Hj Salehuddin.

Indera would regain their rhythm midway through the second-half with their fluid passing and organised defence.

Mohd Asri squandered a chance to score his third and Indera’s fourth five minutes before the time, but his weak attempt went straight into the safe hands of Mohd Aiman.

Jerudong, however, got their consolation goal late in injury time through Mohd Enddy Soehardy Sapar.
DST Super League action will continue today with three matches.

The Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) will take on Liang Lumut Recreational Club Football Team at Padang Arena in Seria at 4pm.

QAF FC will play Royal Brunei Police Forces Sports Council (MS PDB) at the Berakas Sports Complex while Kilanas FC will go up against Najip FC at the Balapan Track and Field.
Both games will start at 8pm.
