DST Super League match called off after players clash

     Fadhil Yunus
THE Brunei DST Super League match between Indera SC and Kasuka FC has to be called off after angry scenes unfolded following an off-the-ball incident just two minutes shy off half-time at the Berakas Sports Complex yesterday.
The episode began as soon as a Kasuka player has just cleared a ball when both sets of players raced to each other seemingly in discontentment with Kasuka’s Afindi Yati Tuah lying to the ground before the referee approached a match official for a view on the incident.
Both set of players waited for the judgment as the referee flashed the red card to Indera’s Hardi Bujang prompting a tirade of verbal exchanges between both clubs and the match officials.
Hardi returned to the pitch clearly annoyed by the actions of his former QAF team-mate and had to be separated from each other as Afindi continued lying in the ground.
Tempers frayed as the incident triggered a major unrest among the Indera SC supporters which subsequently came to a fiery end as both sides were ushered to the dressing rooms.

It would be the final time that the players were on the pitch with the decision being made to stop the match in light of the incident fearing the safety of the match officials.
A representative from National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) has announced that the league match between Indera SC and Kasuka FC has been called off due to unforeseen circumstances.
The country’s football governing body will be investigating the incident and the decision to overrule the red card to Indera’s player Hardi Bujang is yet to be known.
Meanwhile, Wijaya FC racked up their second successive victory of the campaign after a 2-0 win over MS PDB with Awangku Anaqi Sufi bin Pengiran Omar Baki and Mohd Shah Azahar Abdullah Ahar grabbing the goals.
Tabuan Under-21 also notched their second victory of the season after beating Lun Bawang 3-1 at the Batu Apoi Sports Complex in the Temburong district.
Tabuan Under-21 forward Nursyazwan Halidi opened the scoring in the 20th minute before Abd Afiq Roslan doubled the advantage in the 40th minute.
Amir Bujang reduced the arrears for the hosts in the hour mark but Tabuan Under-21 restored the two-goal cushion through Abd Khair Haji Basri’s strike in the 64th minute.

MS ABDB menang tipis ke atas Najip

 • PDF
Juara Liga Perdana Brunei DST musim lalu, Kota Ranger, buat pertama kalinya merasai manisnya
Awangku Ammar Hanafie bin Pengiran Hassanuddin.
Jerudong FC bagaimanapun berjaya mengimbangi perlawanan semula hanya lima minit kemudian apabila
- Media Permata -

THE Brunei DST Super League match between former two-time champions Indera Sports Club (SC) and newly-promoted Kasuka FC was abandoned due to a heated argument between the two teams yesterday.

The incident occurred just two minutes before the half-time whistle blew when Kasuka’s Afindi Yati Tuah laid on the pitch at the Berakas Sports Complex after being challenged by Indera’s Sahrin Momin.

The referee then approached the two players and sent off a different Indera player, Hardi Bujang – the decision sparked heated exchanges between the players and match officials.

Sahrin, who was left dissatisfied with the referee’s decision tried to make his way to the referee in rage.

However, he was then pulled away and restrained by Afindi’s fellow teammate, Pg Shahruddin Pg Hj Md Tejuddin.

Frustrations between the two teams loomed and the incident then provoked a disruption amongst Indera’s supporters who called for proper decision from the match officials.

The decision to call off the match was then made by the referee who was concerned of his and other match officials' safety, 15 minutes after both teams were led back into their respective changing rooms.

National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) has confirmed that the match will be rescheduled in due time and the incident will be under investigation by the governing body’s tournament department.

Meanwhile, the other DST Super League match saw Wijaya FC beat The Royal Brunei Police Force Sports Council (MS PDB) 2-0 at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

Early goal from Ak Anaqi Sufi Pg Omar Baki in the 10th minute and second half goal from Shah Azahar Abdullah sealed Wijaya’s first win of the season.

Lun Bawang fell 3-1 against Tabuan Muda Under-21 (national under-21 team) in another DST Super League match held in Batu Apoi Sports Complex, Temburong.

Goals from Nursyazwan Halidi and Abd Afiq Roslan in the first half sealed Tabuan’s first three points of the season.

Lun Bawang’s Amir Bujang pulled one back in the 60th minute, before Tabuan Muda’s Abd Khair Hj Basri scored four minutes later.

Kota Ranger cruise to comfortable win

     Fadhil Yunus
AWANGKU Ammar Hanafie Pengiran Hassanuddin scored the fastest goal of the season after only 40 seconds as Kota Ranger cruised to an emphatic 4-2 win over winless Jerudong FC in the Brunei DST Super League at the Berakas Sports Complex last night.
Hidayatur Rahim Aliuddin levelled the tie inside six minutes before a spell which saw both sides carving out the chances.
Kota Ranger went in search to retake the lead as Md Hairun Ikhwan Kusno struck a volley wide after being intelligently set up from midfield.
Jerudong’s Noorzaimin Zaini delivered a near accurate free-kick with the ball just missing the top corner.
The adventurous Mohd Farhan Zawawi Zainidi drove forward with interest and his team-mate inadvertently got enough contact though unable to meet the target.
The newly promoted side regained the lead after captain Abang Nor Silmmy Abang Taha powered a thumping header home.

Kota Ranger had a goal disallowed after Md Harun Ikhwan was caught offside which saved Jerudong’s shot-stopper Abd Hafiz Haji Mursadi from embarrassment after he was beaten to the ball by Hazmie Anak Nyaring.
There was a moment of controversy before the end of the first half with a group of Kota Ranger players appealing for handball but it was the right call for the referee not to award a penalty.
With Md Hairun in hot pursuit, the Jerudong defence collapsed and his persistence was instantly rewarded lobbing the ball off the goalkeeper with defender Mohd Arif Azamin found guilty of ball-watching to extend his side’s lead.
The goal has seemingly lifted the confidence of the striker as the attacking-minded player rushed forward to nick the ball off the Jerudong goalkeeper to slot it into the empty net.
Md Arif bin Ali Rahman scored a mere consolation after grabbing a header at the near post which flew past the outstretched arm of Kota Ranger’s goalkeeper Mohd Faizal Hashim.

NEWLY promoted Kota Ranger FC picked up their first three points in the DST Super League after beating Jerudong FC 4-2 at the Berakas Sports Complex last night.

The former DST Premier League champions broke the deadlock in just 40 seconds of the game – the fastest goal scored so far in the league after Ak Ammar Hanafie Pg Hassanuddin eased his shot into the net.
Jerudong did not let the early goal shook them as they pulled one back after through Hidayatur Rahim Aliuddin five minutes later.
Both teams gained momentum after the early goals, however, Kota Ranger rued their missed chances, notably in the 23rd minute when Md Hairun Ikhwan Kusno was awarded a free-kick just outside of Jerudong FC’s penalty box where his shot went off wide.

Kota Ranger regained their lead in the 32nd minute after team skipper, Abang Nor Sillmy Abang Taha’s header went past Jerudong’s goalkeeper, Abd Hafiz Hj Musadi who stretched but failed to save the shot.

Second half saw Md Hairun Ikhwan redeemed himself after he scored a bracer in the 52nd minute and his second goal two minutes later making it 4-1 for Kota Ranger.

Despite trailing 4-1, Jerudong FC pushed for another goal and challenged Kota Ranger through out the end of the second half - where they scored a second consolation goal in the 92nd minute after Md Arif Ali Rahman’s header went past Kota Ranger’s goalkeeper, Mohd Faizal Hashim.

Despite the win, Kota Ranger's assistant head coach, Abang Nor Hillmy Abang Taha felt that the pressure from the playing in the DST Super League was overwhelming.

“The DST Super League is Brunei’s top-notch league and this match against Jerudong FC showed us that,” said Abang Nor Hillmy in a post-match interview with The Brunei Times.

“It’s only been two games so far and we definitely feel the pressure, especially when we lost 5-1 in our first game against Tabuan Muda (national Under-23 football team).

“There’s a huge gap in terms of the quality of the matches and the sport between the DST Super League and the DST Premier League.

“We have to set aside of when we were unbeaten last year and were crowned champions in the DST Premier League, but that was then and this is now.

“We have seen how top clubs such as Indera Sports Club (SC) have played and we have to give 100 per cent of our efforts in just challenging them.

“It’s too early to say anything now, but we have to remain focused,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the other DST Super League match saw defending champions, the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) edged Najip I-Team 1-0 after Pvt Abd Azizi Ali Rahman scored the only goal in the 26th minute at the Tutong Sports Complex.

WIJAYA FC have underlined their ambition of attaining a top three finish in the Brunei DST Super League this season following their victory against Jerudong FC at the Berakas Sports Complex.

The one-time league winner when it was known as the B League in its old format in 2003 have also indicated that winning the league would have been a bonus.
The team has matched their ambition after signing Suhaimi Anak Sulau from Tabuan Muda, who was a member of the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy two years ago.

Lun Bawang lonjak tangga teratas benam I-Team

Wijaya bulldoze past Jerudong

on:

     Fadhil Yunus
SUHAIMI Anak Sulau scored his first goal for new club Wijaya FC in the 3-0 win against Jerudong FC in the Brunei DST Super League 2016 at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex yesterday.
The new signing, on arrival from Tabuan Muda in the closed season, was on target in the first half as the entire Jerudong backline froze.
Both teams have started their season at the back of a loss but the Jerudong outfit will be the most concerned following their seven-goal nightmare against Indera SC.
On the contrary, Wijaya showed signs of recovery in the second half against champions but fell short as they left the pitch empty-handed.
The Wijaya defeat spells worrying times for Jerudong having leaked ten goals in a space of two games with the squad coming to terms with the losses of Hardi Bujang to Indera SC and Mardi Bujang to Kasuka.
Wijaya’s Khalil Saab was left unimpressed after not getting what was a marginal decision his way but moments later he fired a scorching volley into the back of the net leaving Jerudong goalkeeper Mohd Sani Haji Abdullah absolutely no chance.

There was no way back when Abd Hakim Mohd Musliano escaped the last line of defence and was hacked down as he tried to round the goalkeeper giving the referee no choice but to send Sani off.
The substitute goalkeeper’s first touch was to pick the ball up from the back of the net after Abd Hapiz Azmin had earlier buried his penalty into the left corner to make it 3-0 on the 85th minute.
Wijaya’s assistant manager Hilmi Hazwan bin Zakaria has said that the team is nearing 80-90 percent and is determined to produce a result after the MS ABDB defeat.
Meanwhile in the other game, Najip I Team moved to the top of the Brunei DST Super League with four points after a 2-2 draw against Lun Bawang at the Berakas Sports Complex.
Norfaez bin Awg Sayang gave Najip the perfect start in the 19th minute but former QAF attacking player Petrus Jumat cancelled the lead in the 42nd minute for the Temburong side.
Rainney Lius turned it around for Lun Bawang but Md Azri bin Zahari netted in a second successive match to ensure share of the spoils.

NAJIP I-Team and Lun Bawang played out to a 2-2 draw in the DST Super League yesterday at the Berakas Sports Complex.
Norfaez Sayang and Md Azri Zahari got on the scoresheet for Najip while the duo of Petrus Jumat and Rainney Lius netted for Lun Bawang.
Najip broke the deadlock in the 19th minute with Norfaez putting the ball past Lun Bawang goalkeeper Azriel Arman.
Lun Bawang equalised from a deadball situation in the 42nd minute with a freekick from midfield sent to Petrus at the edge of the box. He then lobbed it into the top left corner past the outstretched arm of Najip custodian Ron Junior Philip.
Amir Ak Bujang almost gave them the lead just before the halftime whistle but his effort from just inside the box came off the crossbar.
Najip could have regained the lead in the 52nd minute but Muhd Faiz Farhan Kamat headed the ball over.
Lun Bawang got in front in the 67th minute after Rainney curled one in from a tight angle on the right side.
However, it came with some controversy as a Najip player had gone down in the box and every one stopped play despite the whistle had not been blown.
The lead was shortlived as Najip responded two minutes later after good work by Azri in the box.
He switched from his left foot to avoid a tackle before unleashing it with his right from inside the box to beat Azriel.
They had the momentum and almost added another two minutes later with  Mamduh Momin launching from 30 yards out but Azriel produced a fingertip save to keep it out.
Lun Bawang had a good chance in the 83rd minute but Mohd Alikhan Hj Mohd Yakop sent his freekick from the edge of the box just over.
At the other end, Muhd Faiz should have done better to get his shot on target. Another chance came begging in the 86th minute but Atifuddin couldn’t place his shot on target from just outside the box at an open goal.
Lun Bawang almost stole all three points in the 89th minute after Petrus was sent through on goal but he took too much time and could only fire at the side netting to see both teams share the spoils.
Over at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas, Wijaya FC picked up a 3-0 win over Jerudong FC.
The other match between defending champions Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) and the Royal Brunei Police Force Sports Council (MS PDB) at the Bolkiah Garrison was cancelled due to technical problems.

I-Team belasah Kasuka 5-0

Holders MS ABDB begin title defence with win

     Fadhil Yunus
REIGNING Brunei DST Super League champions MS ABDB began their title defence with a win after beating Wijaya FC 2-0 at the Berakas Sports Complex yesterday.
The army’s striking assassin Azizi Ali Rahman started from the bench but the holders already inflicted damage with goals from Mohd Baharin Hamidon and Affendy Haji Akup in the first half enough to give manager Major (A) Razanol Hardi Abd Razak’s men all three points.
Holding a goal lead through Baharin’s 18-minute strike, the army side upped their tempo as Affendy showed his determination to claim the ball from the Wijaya’s back four before unleashing an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner.
MS ABDB showed a declaration of intent to cause further mayhem highlighted by an individual move demonstrated by Razimie Ramli injecting pace and surging forward but his shot was parried away by Wijaya’s shot-stopper Mohd Azree Rahim.
Apart from the two incidents where MS ABDB breached Wijaya’s goal, their long-time foes did produce a resolute defence and restricted the champions to a lack of clear-cut opportunities.
Wijaya closed down space in numbers which forced Adey Shariduan Haji Johari to rush his shot but ended haplessly wide.
