Fadhli penjaring terbanyak liga

Rakan sepasukan Asri, Hanif Aiman Haji Adanan, penjaring terbanyak musim lalu, mencatat satu jaringan ketika pasukannya mementang pasukan pendatang baharu KB FT.

Naim late strike saves a point for MS PPDB

Fadhil Yunus
MS PPDB produced one of the standout performances in the Brunei Super League this season after battling to a 1-1 draw against newcomers DPMM FC at the Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium of the Police Headquarters in Gadong yesterday.
DPMM FC, who last year won the Brunei Premier League, will hope to be included in the title discussion especially having added former Albirex Niigata (S) defender Shuhei Sasahara and South Korea youngster Jho Choi given licence to roam the pitch.
However, MS PPDB proved that with hunger and desire as well as a fight which they thoroughly showed yesterday, results are far from a given in the Brunei top flight.
DPMM FC new forward Abdul Azim Rashid played against his old club MS PPDB for the first time since making the switch but did not score any goal to mark the occasion. Goalkeeper Pengiran Mu’izzuddin bin Pengiran Ismail also had a reunion with his old teammates.
The hosts looked bright right from the onset as Farish Aryan Abdul Rahman got his shot across but was well saved by Pengiran Mu’izzuddin.

The police personnel made their presence felt early during the game as their physicality was demonstrated evidently on one occasion when DPMM FC winger Shafie Effendy was bullied off the ball.
With Jho Choi taking the mantle as DPMM FC’s creative outlet, he showed silky touches with the ball on the by-line which resulted in a corner.
DPMM FC youngster Afif Roshidi, one of three 18-year-olds in the starting line-up, stabbed the ball home for the opening goal of the game after both his teammates and the police’s defence challenged for the ball off an inviting cross.
After the first goal, the home side never gave their opponents an easy time as they did not allow ample time with the ball and looked dangerous with every attack.
The police personnel escaped jail after a miskick from Md Azri Zahari but DPMM FC’s Shafiq Hidayat Azim Sharizam blasted his effort wide.
The hosts came close with the leveller after left back Abdul Hafiz Haji Ahmad fizzed a long-range effort bound for the top corner but his attempt was foiled by Pengiran Mu’izzuddin.
Shafiq Hidayat had rarely seen a sight in goal thanks to a solid defensive masterclass from the duo of Azri and Awangku Md Amiruddin Pengiran Jamaluddin, but he nearly doubled his side’s lead after his shot rattled against the crossbar.
For all the hosts’ attacking prowess, MS PPDB’s perseverance finally paid off after Md Naim bin Haji Tarif drew his side level with a low powerful finish two minutes from time.

Asri haunts former side with brace as Kasuka beat Indera 4-2

Fadhil Yunus
Kasuka FC new recruit Asri Aspar came back to haunt his former side after netting a brace in the 4-2 win over Indera SC in what appeared to be the first major fixture of the season in the Brunei Super League at the Berakas Sports Complex last night.
Two of the so-called elite clubs have made serious reinforcements but it was the former Indera SC man that stole the headlines after putting his new employers in the lead twice.
As the designated home team, Kasuka striker Hanif Aiman Adanan saw his low shot well saved by the Indera goalkeeper Ahsanuddin Haji Dani.
Indera’s new boy Samson Kella Emmanuel showed good hold-up play in the box before setting up Amin waiting on the edge of the box, whose shot rolled harmlessly wide.
Indera, two-time winners of the Brunei Super League, created their best chance of the match when Nkurumeh Kingsley rattled the crossbar with his free-kick.
With Kasuka goalkeeper Hafiz Haji Abdul Rahim being found wanting, Indera’s Zulkhairy Razali could not guide his header towards goal after connecting from a decent cross by team captain Khairil Shahme Suhaimi.

Indera goalkeeper Ahsanuddin came to rescue for his side after making a double save as Kasuka came knocking on the door for an opener that they desperately craved.
Zulkhairy then raced into the by-line before providing a cross into the box but Samson could not navigate his shot towards the goal as the ball ran out of play.
Kasuka’s pressure were finally told as a fine counter attack led to Asri scoring against his former club on the stroke of halftime.
During the restart, Indera instantly replied in the opening minute through Samson but Kasuka seized control the lead just a minute later.
The Indera defence were caught napping as Asri, who enjoyed league triumph with his former club, was afforded time and space to drill home a low finish past Ahsanuddin.
Kasuka tried to conjure another goal through a set-piece as Reduan Petara got to the end of a Maududi Hilmi Kasmi’s free-kick but his header ended comfortably wide.
Kasuka went further ahead as Yapo Adja Kimou Franc Alwin slipped through past the defence before coolly slotting home past the Indera goalkeeper.
Asri had his sights of a hat-trick as he curled his shot after getting the better of his marker but the ball reached safely to the arms of Ahsanuddin.
Kasuka looked to pose serious threat in attack as Alinur Rashimy Haji Jufri volleyed wide a lofted pass by fellow substitute Aman Haji Abdul Rahim.
It got better for Kasuka as Brunei youth international Aisan Aizuddin Aiman got into the act with an audacious lob after spotting the Indera’s goalkeeper off his line.
Indera threatened in the concluding stages of the match but only had a consolation goal from Amin Haji Sisa to show for as they headed to a defeat.

Defending champions MS ABDB held to a 1-1 draw

Fadhil Yunus
Defending champions MS ABDB were held to a 1-1 draw against Wijaya FC in the Brunei Super League at the Berakas Sports Complex yesterday.
MS ABDB forward Fadhli Haji Salleh made it four goals in two league appearances this season after opening the scoring in the 14th minute but Wijaya new boy Brian Lim Yong Song hit back with his first goal for the club in the 27th minute.
The army personnel fashioned a chance as Fadhli took an effort first time with a volley after latching on to a hoisted ball from a teammate but he could not keep his shot on target.
Moments later, he helped his team into the lead after brilliantly skipping past his marker before slotting the ball home past Wijaya FC goalkeeper Awangku Ashraf bin Pengiran Haledi.
Wijaya’s experienced player Afindi Yati bin Tuah proved a menace down the left side with his intelligent runs and lashed his effort wide from range as MD ABDB started over with a goal-kick.
The Ong Sum Ping-based club pushed forward on the right hand side as Brian Lim took an excellent touch following a quick passage of play before drilling home a powerful shot into the bottom corner.
Afindi produced a ferocious attempt which MS ABDB goalkeeper Tarmizi bin Haji Mat Johari, who made his first league start this season, got strong hands on to before a free-kick in favour of the army personnel cut the threat short.
Wijaya’s set-piece specialist Jamrin Johari produced a fine delivery into the box as Abi Syarilizam Sabtu stuck out a header onto the ball on the far post but it was easy for Tarmizi.
Fadhli had a decent chance late into the first half after the ball broke onto his path but contrived to hit the side-netting with Wijaya FC goalkeeper Awangku Ashraf closing him down.
As both teams went in search of the winner in the second half, MS ABDB had a free-kick on target but Awangku Ashraf tipped the ball away for a corner before another opportunity came passing by, prompting scenes of players kneeling down in frustration.
Wijaya’s Afindi Yati reacted to a loose ball but his effort cleared the bar amid a crowded box while on the other end Haris Danial Haji Khalliden’s attempted lob flew past the goal with time slowly fading.

MS ABDB begin title defence with resounding win over IKLS MB-5 FC

Fadhil Yunus
MS ABDB began their title defence in the Brunei Super League in style after a resounding 6-0 victory over IKLS MB-5 FC at the Tutong Sports Complex last night.
The early period of the first half saw IKLS being comfortable in possession but MS ABDB showed the simplicity of finishing a move to devastating effect led by Baharin Hamidon who initiated the threat with a teasing cross onto the box.
It was a familiar trio who orchestrated the opening goal of the game as Adey Shariduan bin Haji Johari combined with Fadhli Haji Salleh, who easily tapped the ball home from an unmissable range.
With IKLS probing for a half chance, they got a sniff in goal but Amrin Yusrin could not hit his shot cleanly enough to trouble the champions after receiving a pass from the flanks.
MS ABDB veteran Budiman Jumat, one of few regulars that have been a mainstay for the club provided another setback for IKLS after doubling his team’s lead in the 10th minute.
The MS ABDB stalwart also unleashed a fierce drive from range which IKLS goalkeeper Awangku Zulazim bin Pengiran Jamadil tipped away to safety.
The army personnel extended the lead as Adey Shariduan swung an inviting free-kick which appeared to deceive everyone and into the back of the net.
The visitors were not entirely poor by all accounts in the first half and had their moments evident with Nor Hidayatullah bin Haji Zaini blasting his shot wide.
When the referee blew the whistle for a free-kick on the edge of the box just before half-time, IKLS had a chance to get back into the game but an effort flew wide.
The champions took only four minutes after the restart to continue their relentless pursuit for goals as Fadhli doubled his tally. The forward completed his hat-trick just a minute later as MS ABDB rained goals.
Saiful Ammar bin Haji Adis, another player who has been an ever-present in MS ABDB’s title-winning runs, added the gloss to the win with his team’s sixth goal in the 71st minute.
Meanwhile, BSRC announced their arrival in the Brunei top flight with a 3-1 victory over Bakes FC at the Brunei Shell Recreation Club Field in Belait.
Goals from Md Iqmal Wafi, Abd Halim and Herman had done the damage for the Belait outfit before Faisal came up with a consolation goal in the 74th minute for Bakes FC.

Fadhil Yunus
Adi Said marked his competitive debut for Kota Ranger FC in style after his hat-trick guided his new employers to an impressive 3-1 win over MS ABDB in the curtain raiser Charity Cup 2020 at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium last night.
The star man netted twice in the first half before sealing his hat-trick in the second half with MS ABDB managing a consolation in the closing stages of the cup affair.
Having spent several seasons in Singapore and a brief stint in Malaysia, Adi Said had a chance to announce his arrival to Brunei football through his signature free kick which he curled just over the bar.
MS ABDB nearly took the lead from open play when a player’s cross-cum-shot grazed against the bar.
Adi, who was named captain, tested veteran MS ABDB goalkeeper Mohammad Tarmizi bin Haji Mat Johari with a fierce drive with the latter pushing the ball away for a corner.
The former DPMM FC forward scored his first goal for Kota Ranger after he tapped in a teammate cross from close range in the 39th minute.
