THE FIRST round of the Brunei FA Cup comes to a close tomorrow with the final two games of the schedule.
Temburong-based Lun Bawang take on Tutong-side Batang Mitus at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas at 4pm, while the 8:15pm tie at the same venue pits the pride of Belait, Liang Lumut Recreation Club Football Team, against BIBD Sports and Recreational Club.
Brunei Shell Recreation Club (BSRC) became the latest team to progress to the second round which is slated to start after Hari Raya by beating Landless Indigenous Citizens Housing Scheme (STKRJ) Lambak Kiri 6-1 on Wednesday.
Wirairja Anak Ating got BSRC in front after 24 minutes and goals from Mohd Faizul Zaini in the 43rd minute and Muhammad Azizul Syafiee Tajul Arifin two minutes later would give the Seria-based team a comfortable 3-0 lead heading into the dressing room at the Berakas Sports Complex.
BSRC began the second half with a Junaidi Brahim goal a minute after the restart, and he would make it 5-0 with a strike just before the hour-mark.
Mohd Kamarul Zaman Aiadin pulled one back for STKRJ Lambak Kiri in the 73rd minute before BSRC's Syazwi Mohamed ended the scoring in the 89th minute.
Kicking off on June 10, a total of 44 teams entered the first round of the competition which is open to both league and non-league sides in the Sultanate.The Brunei Times
