WIJAYA FC set the pace with Liang Lumut Recreation Club Football Team (LLRC FT) and Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) after crushing Kilanas FC 4-2 in the DST Super League at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas last night.

The three points put Wijaya FC in second ahead of third placed MS ABDB on goal difference after the latter defeated Royal Brunei Police Forces Sports Council (MSPDB) 2-1 last Friday.

LLRC FT, meanwhile, top the table with three points after beating Najip FC 7-5 on Sunday.

Wijaya FC took an early lead in the third minute courtesy of an own goal by Kilanas FC defender Muhammad Uzaiz Zaini, who turned a cross from the right into his own net.

Wijaya FC then punished Kilanas FC seven minutes later when Wan Firdaus Hj Hamidon robbed Kilanas FC defender Mohammad Azmi Hj Zainin of the ball and found Khalil Saab, who showed great vision in finding Abd Hakim Mohd Musliano to head home.

A corner kick in the 32nd minute saw Wijaya FC go 3-0 up when Jamrin Hj Johari's cross was headed home by Wan Firdaus, leaving Kilanas FC with an uphill climb after the break.

However, Kilanas FC responded well and pulled one goal back in the 46th minute when Nasiruddeen Abdul Wahab perfectly timed his run to latch onto a through ball from midfield and lashed a shot past Wijaya FC's goalkeeper Masuri Hayat Hj Alimin.

Nasiruddeen added his second after scoring from the penalty spot in the 75th minute.

Abg Muhd Fakhri Abg Jaludin replied in the 84th minute to score the fourth goal for Wijaya FC to kill Kilanas FC's hope for a comeback in the game.

Despite the comfortable scoreline, Wijaya FC manager Ahyana Hj Tali was unconvinced with his team's performance.

"I am very happy that we got our three points tonight," said the manager.

"The players determination won us the game but we are still not at the level that we set for this tournament. We played without some of our key players like Anaqi Sufi Pg Hj Omar Baqi and Safwan Amaluddin Sabli, who could not make it to the game tonight ... while Zulkefly Duraman is still out with injury.

"With the current players that we have now, we are very fortunate to win tonight.

"There are many areas that we still need to work on especially in defence. We also need to work on our stamina and mentality in the game," he added.
