REDUAN
Hj Petara came to the rescue of Brunei-Muara by scoring a late
equaliser against Royal Brunei Armed Force (MS ABDB) to help his team to
a 1-1 draw in the opening match of the National Sports Festival (Sukan
Kebangsaan Brunei Darussalam or SKBD) football tournament last night.
Both teams struggled offensively, partly due to the flooded condition of the pitch following a downpour.
However the atmosphere became bad tempered when players from both teams started exchanging hard tackles and aggressive play.
Both sides were down to 10 men after Brunei-Muara’s Afindi Yati Tuah and MS ABDB’s Sgt Mohd Haizul Rani Metussin were sent off in the 21st minute following a scuffle.
MS ABDB’s Pte Abd Azizi Ali Rahman found the back of the net in the 75th minute after he was left unmarked in front of the goal.
Reduan grabbed the equaliser in the 88th minute with a simple tap in after the goalkeeper fumbled the ball.
Last night’s second match saw the Institute of Higher Learning draw 0-0 with Tutong at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah Sports Complex in Berakas.
