NAJIP FC reached the final of the DST FA Cup after a hard-fought 2-1
victory over Indera SC at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium last
night.
The intensity of the rivalry was evident as a consequence of their
numerous duels in the league but records count for nothing when the two
met in the semi-final.
Najip was boosted by the inclusion of Mohd Azri bin Zahari and the
national player made an immediate impact in scoring the opener.
Indera levelled proceedings after Mohd Asri bin Hj Aspar scored the
equaliser on the 37th minute. However, the joy was short-lived for
Indera as Muhd Hanif @ Abd Hadi bin Hamir sparked wild scenes as Najip
FC regained the lead.

Najip pressed for a third but the rhythm slowly moved in favour of Indera and Najip had to supress the unrelenting pressure.
There was late a drama near the end of the match when a Najip player was fouled on the box but they missed the penalty.
Unsurprisingly, Najip chose to slow the game down by going to the
corner flag. They were in the right place at the dying seconds of the
match and the penalty miss did not cost them at the final whistle
.
Only MS ABDB now stand in the way for cup supremacy in the DST FA Cup final.
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 24 Dis – MS ABDB kini bergelar finalis Piala FA
dua minit sebelum rehat.
Abu Bakar (kanan) menyaksikan peluang terbaiknya untuk menyamakan kedudukan buat QAF FC melepasi palang atas gawang MS ABDB.
Lans Korporal Haji Md Yussof bin Haji Mat Yassin kemudiannya
perlawanan akhir Piala FA DST-NFABD 2014.
MS ABDB qualified for this year’s DST FA Cup final after defeating
QAF FC 3-1 on a rain-soaked Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium last
night.
Despite wet conditions in a late evening kick-off, both teams fought
well for a final spot in the country’s premier cup competition.
Affendy bin Hj Akup gave the army side a dream start after opening his team’s account in the 5th minute.
MS ABDB headed into the break with a psychological boost after their
second goal was credited with a Hardi Anak Bujang’s own goal deep into
the first half.
Hj Mohd Yussof bin Hj Mat Yassin let fly a well executed free-kick
for MS ABDB’s third leaving QAF’s goalkeeper Sahan Mumtazli rooted in
his spot.
MS ABDB beat QAF FC 3-1 – FADHIL YUNUS
Soon afterwards, QAF FC was reduced to 10 men for what appeared to be
an off-the-ball incident. The referee was kept busy brandishing three
yellow cards in quick succession after tempers frayed from both set of
players.
QAF FC refused to give in and they pulled one back through a clinical finish by Mohd Syafiq bin Jefry in the 71st minute.
MS ABDB should have added a fourth but their captain Ak Mohd Safri bin Pg Othman fluffed his lines with only the keeper to beat.
MS ABDB will meet the winner of the other semi-final between Indera SC and Najip FC which will be contested tonight.

INDERA
SC are facing a dilemma heading into their DST FA Cup 2014 semi-final
encounter against Najip FC tonight at the Hassanal Bolkiah National
Stadium in Berakas.
The two-time DST Super League champions will be missing the services of defender Abdul Mu’iz Sisa due to suspension.
Indera head coach Hj Omar Hj Md Jamil is left with a headache to put in the right replacement ahead of the matchup.
“We have a problem because we will be missing Mu’iz due to two yellow cards,” said Hj Omar in an interview with The Brunei Times yesterday.
“We will go with the same team like we used against Wijaya FC (in the
4-0 quarter-finals victory) but we have yet to decide who will be able
to fill in his position,” he said.
“Najip FC are a strong team overall from the goalkeeper to the
striker. It will be a closely contested match and can go any way,” he
added.
Asked on what to watch out for against their opponents, Hj Omar replied: “We will have to avoid making any mistakes.
“I believe whichever the team that make the first mistake will lose.
But we do hope that we will be the ones to progress into the final,” he
added.
The last time both teams met was back on September 7 in the DST Super
League whereby Indera strolled to a 5-1 triumph at the same venue.
Najip head coach Johari Hj Bungsu believes that they are the underdogs and know that it will be tough to upend their opponents.
“Indera SC are a team filled with good players and are the favourites. The pressure is on them to win the match,” said Johari.
“We will be looking at fielding a young side as it is different from competing in the league.
”We need to be consistent throughout the 90 minutes and extra time if it is needed,” he added.
“They (young side) have better stamina and just need to remain
focused throughout the match and not commit any mistakes. We will
definitely give them a good fight,” he continued.
Johari also highlighted that the change in schedule for the matchup to be brought forward also hampered preparations.
Regardless of the result today, the Najip head coach will still be proud of his charges.
“Regardless of a win or loss, it is still a good year for the team
after finishing third in the Super League and making it this far in the
FA Cup,” said Johari.
“But of course hopefully we will be able to make it into the final,” he concluded.
THE
Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) are one win away
from defending their DST FA Cup after beating QAF FC 3-1 in the
semi-finals at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas last
night.
They will play the winner of tonight‘s semi-final clash between Najip FC and Indera Sports Club for the title on January 4.
“Alhamdulillah we are in the final once again. I think QAF
played very well but we were better,” said MS ABDB manager Major Pg
Farisan Pg Metassan in an interview with The Brunei Times after the match.
“Luck was on our side too and all the hard work in training paid off tonight.
“Now we need to prepare well for the final and may the best team win on that day,” he said.
MS ABDB got their dream start early in the 5th minute through defender Affendy Hj Akup.
The centre-back found the back of the net after bouncing on a rebound
after captain Ak Mohd Safri Pg Othman struck the wood work.
QAF FC’s Muhd Abu Bakar Mahari should have equalised when he was set
through inside the penalty box but the striker fired the ball over the
bar.
Muhd Haizul Rani Metusin squandered the chance to double his team’s lead when his volley went wide at the half hour mark.
MS ABDB continued to press for more goals and they were rewarded just
before the half-time whistle when QAF's midfielder Hardi Anak Bujang
accidentally headed in Adey Shariduan's cross for an own goal.
QAF were slightly better in the second-half, threatening first
through Afindi Yati Tuah and then Muhd Abu Bakar but neither found a way
past MS ABDB goalkeeper Mohd Tarmizi Hj Mat Johari.
It was the army men again who found the net when Hj Mohd Yusof Hj Mat Yassin scored from a free-kick in the 52nd minute.
Mohd Syafiq Jeffrey pulled one goal back for QAF FC when he headed
home Mohd Hardyman Hj Abdul Lamit’s perfect cross from the right in the
71st minute.
Ak Mohd Safri should have made it 4-1 in the 80th minute when he was
set through by Adey Shariduan – with only the goalkeeper to beat – but
the captain fired the ball over the bar.
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 17 Dis – QAF FC berjaya mara ke suku akhir Piala
FA DST-NFABD 2014 setelah menang tipis 2-1 ke atas pemenang tempat
ketiga Liga Perdana DST 2014, BSRC FT malam tadi.
minit terakhir separuh masa pertama.
Mendahului 2-0 ketika perlawanan dimulakan semula selepas rehat, QAF
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 17 Dis – Pasukan bukan liga, Menglait FC
memberikan persaingan sengit kepada juara Liga Super DST 2014, Indera SC
dalam pusingan keempat Piala FA DST-NFABD 2014 malam tadi sebelum
terpaksa akur tewas 2-4.
perlawanan dimulakan semula selepas rehat.
Namun tiada siapa menjangka Menglait FC mampu menyaingi kehebatan
juara Liga Super DST dua musim berturut-turut lebih-lebih lagi apabila
ia sudah ketinggalan 0-1 seawal minit ke-12 menerusi jaringan penyerang
prolifik Indera SC, Hamizan Aziz bin Sulaiman.
Indera SC sudah sepatutnya mendahului 2-0 tetapi pemain jersi No.7
jaringan Awangku Md Nurhidayat bin Pengiran Haji Ali.
Hamizan Aziz (kanan) ketika menjaringkan gol pertamanya ketika menentang
Menglait FC pada peringkat 16 terakhir Piala FA DST.
Sahrin bin Momin kemudiannya mengembalikan pendahuluan satu gol
malam tadi.
Ketua pasukan skuad Trofi Hassanal Bolkiah (HBT) 2014 Negara Brunei
Darussalam, Md Nur Ikhwan bin Othman kemudiannya menambah selesa
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 18 Dis – Md Hakeem bin Keri muncul menjadi wira
LLRC FT menerusi jaringannya dua minit sebelum masa sebenar perlawanan
Jerudong FC.
Pada perlawanan di Balapan & Padang, Kompleks Sukan Negara
Hassanal Bolkiah (KSNHB) berkenaan, Md Hakeem berjaya menyamakan
Tatkala perlawanan bermula semula selepas rehat, kedua-dua pasukan
terus bersaing sengit sehinggalah kedudukan kembali seimbang pada minit
ke-65 apabila Nur Hazwan Khan bin Asmah Khan berjaya melepaskan diri
menguji penjaga gol Jerudong FC.
Stadium Negara Hassanal Bolkiah.
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 18 Dis – MS ABDB menjadi pasukan pertama mara ke
peringkat separuh akhir Piala FA DST-NFABD 2014 melalui kemenangan
minit ke-40 menjadi pemisah kedua-dua pasukan.
Adey Shariduan bin Haji Johari berjaya mendapatkan dua gol pantas
sempat mendapatkan gol peribadinya.
Kini MS ABDB hanya perlu menunggu pemenang perlawanan peringkat suku
akhir antara MS Polis Diraja Brunei dengan QAF FC pada 20 Disember nanti
di Padang & Balapan, Kompleks Sukan Negara Hassanal Bolkiah
(KSNHB).
MS ABDB defeated Kilanas FC 4-0 in a DST FA Cup match at Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex last night.
MS ABDB scored one goal in the first half through Sjn (U) Mohd Haizul Rani bin Metussin in the 40th minute.
After the breather, Kpl Adey Shariduan bin Hj Johari scored two goals (62nd and 64th).
Sld (U) Mohd Mazazizi bin Mazlan put the icing on the cake with the fourth goal in the 90th minute.

Meanwhile, LLRC beat Jerudong FC 3-2 at Padang Kebajikan.
LLRC’s Md Hakeem bin Keri delivered two goals (35th and 88th) while Nur Hazwan Khan bin Asmah Khan scored the team’s third goal in the 65th minute.

DEFENDING
champions Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) are
through to the semi-finals of the DST FA Cup after thrashing Kilanas FC
4-0 last night.
“I am very happy with how we played
tonight. It was a very beautiful football to watch and Kilanas were very
determined to give us a good game,” said MS ABDB manager Major Pg
Farisan Pg Metassan in an interview with The Brunei Times after the match at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex.
“We
are now in the semi-finals and it is good for us as we are looking to
defend the title. But football can be quite unpredictable, and moreover,
good teams like Indera Sports Club, QAF FC and MS PDB (Royal Brunei
Police Forces Sports Council) are still in the tournament,” he added.
MS ABDB were crowned the champions in the previous edition of the tournament in 2012 beating Indera 1-0 in the final.
“All
I can say right now is that we need to focus on ourselves by playing
good football, and I personally think we still need to improve on our
finishing,” he said, going on to congratulate Adey Shariduan Hj Johari
for scoring two goals.
Mohd Khairuddin Abdul Kadir missed a
glorious chances to put MS ABDB ahead when he was set up in front of
the goal by Mohd Nurikhmal Damit, only for the striker to fire his shot
wide.
MS ABDB defender Affendy Hj Akup did well to get into
a position for a header following a corner, but his effort went just
few inches wide off the bar.
The army men continued to
press for early goals with striker Adey Shariduan testing goalkeeper
Hazmie Hayat Emzah from outside the penalty box, but the latter punched
the ball away to safety.
The Kilanas custodian was once
again called into action just a few minutes later when Mohd Khairuddin
was set through inside the penalty box, but goalkeeper bravely came off
his line to get onto the ball.
Kilanas centre-back Muhd
Khalis brought down MS ABDB Suhaimi Hj Mohd Yussof down inside the
penalty box five minutes before the half-time whistle to give MS ABDB a
penalty kick.
Mohd Haizul Rani Metussin stepped up to the
penalty spot and sent goalkeeper Hazmie Hayat the other way, giving the
army men the lead going into the break.
The soldiers showed
no sign of slowing down in the second half, with Mohd Safari Wahit
smashing the bar and Affendy's header going just wide a minute later.
Kilanas were forced to sit in their own half with their only striker Mohd Nazirul Azim Hj Anuar getting more isolated upfront.
MS
ABDB made a change on the hour mark, bringing in winger Mohd Mazazizi
Mazlan for full-back Hj Mohd Yusof Hj Matyasin to bolster their attack.
The move paid off as the extra man in the attack allowed striker Adey Shariduan to roam freely upfront.
Unmarked, Adey Shariduan made a straight run from outside the penalty box before placing the ball home in the 62nd minute.
Adey
Shariduan scored MS ABDB’s third just a few minutes later with a
similar run, but this time his shot deflected off the goalkeeper before
going into the net.
Kilanas were getting frustrated after
not being able to penetrate MS ABDB’s fortress and string passes
together, and they resorted to shooting from distance.
Mohd Nurhidayatullah Hj Zaini had their best chance of the game, with the others not even able to find the target.
Mohd
Mazazizi Mazlan added MS ABDB’s fourth goal of the night in the 90th
minute as they marched into the last four of the tournament with ease.
Last night’s other game saw the Liang Lumut Recreational Club Football Team.
(LLRC FT) defeat Jerudong FC 3-2 at the Berakas Sports Complex.
LLRC FT will meet Najip FC in the quarter-final at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas on Sunday.

Dalam perlawanan di Padang & Balapan, Kompleks Sukan Negara

terakhir masa sebenar perlawanan.
Ak Md Safri (11) menjaringkan dua gol manakala Affendy (17) menjaringkan satu gol dalam kemenangan 5-0 MS ABDB ke atas DSP Utd.

THE
Royal Brunei Armed Forces’ Sports Council (MS ABDB) successfully
defended their crown by beating Brunei-Muara 2-0 in the final of the 2nd
Brunei Darussalam National Games (SKBD) football tournament last night,
to once again reign supreme in the tournament.
L/Cpl Mohd Baharin Hamidon and Lt Amzar Mu’az Tamit hit one apiece to
seal victory for MS ABDB at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in
Berakas.
A cross from the left by MS ABDB’s Pvt Abd Azizi Ali Rahman found
Baharin inside the penalty box, who slotted in the opening goal in the
58th minute.
Nine minutes later, MS ABDB’s Amzar added to the tally as he headed the ball past Brunei-Muara’s goalkeeper to make it 2-0.
MS ABDB’s manager Major (A) Pg Md Farisan Pg Hj Metassan lauded his
team’s performance and expressed his happiness after they retained the
championship title in an interview with The Brunei Times.
“The team managed to pull a very good performance tonight (last night) against a very strong and experienced opponent,” he said.
“For me, it is much more difficult to defend the title compared to
winning the tournament. That is why I’m relieved with our victory,” he
added.
Despite the win, the manager also said that he was slightly disappointed with some of the wrong decisions from the referee.
“There were a few occasions where we were deemed offside even though we weren’t,” he said.
“It was a bit frustrating but the important thing is we won and also defended the title as a champion,” he added.
Asked about their change of tactics after the goalless first half, he
explained that in the second half, they focused their attack from the
centre and wing position.
“Basically, we initiated the attack from the midfield while forward
players just need to hold the ball and feed the ball back to either the
midfielders or the wingers” he explained.
“Hence, we can push the opponent’s defenders to the back and create goal scoring chances as we get closer to the penalty box.
“I believe we were able to execute this tactic successfully because of our teamwork, structure and fitness,” he added.
Brunei-Muara’s coach Zulkefly Duraman said that the team did their best and gave a good fight despite the defeat.
“We were a bit unfortunate because our team were hit with injuries,” he said.
“However a loss is still a loss and there is no excuse for that.
“From this final match, we will analyse any areas that we need to
improve on and join as many tournaments and friendlies as possible in
the future to develop the team,” he added.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 2 Dis – MS Polis Diraja Brunei (PDB) hanya perlu
acara bola sepak Sukan Kebangsaan Brunei Darussalam (SKBD) II tetapi
sembilan minit sebelum masa sebenar perlawanan tamat.

MS
ABDB sit at the top of Group A after the victory and will meet Belait

semi-final match.
Both semi-final matches will be played tomorrow.
MS
ABDB’s manager Major (A) Pg Md Farisan Pg Hj Metassan believed his
squad controlled about 70 per cent of ball possession and said that the
team’s physical conditioning and teamwork were the key to their victory.
“Our
team managed to maintain the ball possession throughout the game and
they were threatening when going forward,” he said during an interview
with The Brunei Times.
“We also have the upper hand in terms of fitness, and the players also communicate well with each other on the field,” he added.
He also mentioned the team’s weakness in wasting a lot of goal scoring chances in front of goal.
“We need to improve our finishing touch and be more clinical in front of goal,” he said.
“Other than that, our team performed well and I believe defensive midfielder Pvt Affendy Hj Akup was tonight’s man of the match.
“He did well in controlling the tempo of the game and he was influential in initiating our attacking play,” he added.
