TABUAN Muda ‘A’ remained in firm contention for a top-six finish in the DST Super League despite a 3-3 draw with Lun Bawang FC at the Batu Apoi Sports Complex in the Temburong district last weekend.
The Temburong-based outfit’s fate of finishing in the top six are now out of their hands after completing their season and now faced the danger of being eclipsed by Tabuan Muda ‘A’ and MS PDB, who dropped to eighth in the table.
Tabuan, who pulled a good run of games, can seal a top six place if they win any of their last two matches while only three points would do for the police personnel who also hope that the national development side slip up.
Md Nazif Safwan bin Jaini provided the breakthrough for Tabuan in the 14th minute before Md Hanif Farhan bin Azman doubled his side’s lead in the 26th minute.
Christopher Anak Ambun reduced the deficit for the home side in the 29th minute but visiting captain Md Wafi bin Aminuddin restored his side’s two-goal cushion.
However, the hosts had other ideas as Mohd Ehsan bin Haji Moksin handed his side a lifeline in the 72nd minute before Christopher completed the comeback two minutes later.
With the positioning of the bottom three teams confirmed and Kasuka FC all but cementing fourth place, there is the pride of finishing in sixth place to play for.
But, nothing compares to the race to the title between defending champions MS ABDB and challengers Kota Ranger FC who are looking to go down the wire.
If Kota Ranger win all their remaining matches, they will go top leaving the army personnel needing a win in their last game of the season fittingly against their eternal rivals Indera SC.
