DSP United booked their berth in the quarter-finals of the DST FA Cup after seeing off Menglait FC in a 3-1 victory at the Tutong Sports Complex last Wednesday.
DSP took the lead after Menglait’s Khairul Azmi bin Mohammad scored an unfortunate own goal in the 38th goal before Md Hafiy bin Adnan doubled the lead in the 46th minute.
Md Haziq Kasyful Azim reduced arrears for the Super League side in the 49th minute but Arifubillah bin Masli came off the bench to restore a two-goal cushion in the 73rd minute.
The Premier League outfit came close to winning a promotion to the top flight last season but now have been presented with an opportunity to play either Super League runaway leaders MS ABDB or Tabuan Muda ‘A’ in the last eight.
Meanwhile, Wijaya FC cruised to a 5-1 victory over BSRC FT in the other second round match with Pengiran Anaqi Sufi Pengiran Haji Omar Baki on fire grabbing four goals. The other solitary effort came from Marhazif bin Ahad on the hour mark.
Khairul Asnijam bin Ahmad scored a consolation in the 64th minute for the Belait-based club.
