WIJAYA FC set the pace with Liang Lumut Recreation Club Football Team (LLRC FT) and Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) after crushing Kilanas FC 4-2 in the DST Super League at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas last night.

The three points put Wijaya FC in second ahead of third placed MS ABDB on goal difference after the latter defeated Royal Brunei Police Forces Sports Council (MSPDB) 2-1 last Friday.

LLRC FT, meanwhile, top the table with three points after beating Najip FC 7-5 on Sunday.

Wijaya FC took an early lead in the third minute courtesy of an own goal by Kilanas FC defender Muhammad Uzaiz Zaini, who turned a cross from the right into his own net.

Wijaya FC then punished Kilanas FC seven minutes later when Wan Firdaus Hj Hamidon robbed Kilanas FC defender Mohammad Azmi Hj Zainin of the ball and found Khalil Saab, who showed great vision in finding Abd Hakim Mohd Musliano to head home.

A corner kick in the 32nd minute saw Wijaya FC go 3-0 up when Jamrin Hj Johari's cross was headed home by Wan Firdaus, leaving Kilanas FC with an uphill climb after the break.

However, Kilanas FC responded well and pulled one goal back in the 46th minute when Nasiruddeen Abdul Wahab perfectly timed his run to latch onto a through ball from midfield and lashed a shot past Wijaya FC's goalkeeper Masuri Hayat Hj Alimin.

Nasiruddeen added his second after scoring from the penalty spot in the 75th minute.

Abg Muhd Fakhri Abg Jaludin replied in the 84th minute to score the fourth goal for Wijaya FC to kill Kilanas FC's hope for a comeback in the game.

Despite the comfortable scoreline, Wijaya FC manager Ahyana Hj Tali was unconvinced with his team's performance.

"I am very happy that we got our three points tonight," said the manager.

"The players determination won us the game but we are still not at the level that we set for this tournament. We played without some of our key players like Anaqi Sufi Pg Hj Omar Baqi and Safwan Amaluddin Sabli, who could not make it to the game tonight ... while Zulkefly Duraman is still out with injury.

"With the current players that we have now, we are very fortunate to win tonight.

"There are many areas that we still need to work on especially in defence. We also need to work on our stamina and mentality in the game," he added.

QAF, Indera sama hebat

Liga Super pertama anjuran Persatuan Bola Sepak Negara Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) yang menyenaraikan pasukan terbaik kebangsaan menyaksikan pertemuan menarik sekalipun kedua pasukan bermula lembab mencari rentak sebenar.

QAF FC Draw 2-2 With Indera SC

Bandar Seri Begawan - QAF FC and Indera SC battled against each other in yesterday's third match of the DST Super League 2012/2013 and resulted in a tie of 2-2 at the Belapan Track and Field Complex in Berakas.

Sahrin bin Momin of Indera SC scored the opening goal in the 11th minute. The skipper latched onto a through ball before calmly slotting the ball past Junaidi bin Akim to give his side the lead.

Thirteen minutes later, QAF FC was level when Petrus bin Jumat made the most of a clearance from his teammate collecting possession of the wayward ball before sidestepping an Indera SC, and with only the keeper to beat, Petrus made no mistake with the scoreboard reading 1-1.

Following some exciting end-to-end exchanges, fans were made to wait until the 80th minute before seeing another goal. QAF FC goal machine, Adie Arsham bin Md Salleh, agilely rounded the keeper and tapped into the empty net to make it 2-1 in QAF FC's favour.

But the match was set for another twist of events when the fourth official signaled for five additional minutes.
Both teams were kept on their toes, with QAF FC trying to maintain possession of the ball and their lead and Indera SC pushing forward in pursuit of an equaliser.

One minute from the final whistle, Md Aqmal Hakeem bin Abd Hamid answered his team's prayers, scoring Indera SC's equaliser following a cross from the left. The result means that QAF FC and Indera SC now sit level on points and goal difference with Jerudong FC and Majra FC after the two played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Balapan Track and Field Complex the night before.

MOHAMMAD Aqmal Hakeem Abdul Hamid scored in the 94th minute to help Indera Sports Club salvage a 2-2 draw with QAF FC in yesterday afternoon's DST Super League game. The real action came later in the day though, when Liang Lumut Recreation Club Football Team (LLRC FT) beat Najip FC 7-5 to move to the top of the table in the night match.

Both games were played at the Balapan Track and Field at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

Kilanas FC and Wijaya FC face off in the last of the opening week action tonight, and unless they can produce a bigger goal-fest, LLRC FT will enter the second week at the summit of the 10-team table.

Traditionally one of the strongest teams in Brunei football, QAF FC looked to be cruising to their first win of the tournament when Petrus Jumat and Adie Arsham Muhammad Salleh found the net in the 25th and 78th minutes respectively until Mohammad Aqmal Hakeem forced an equaliser after defeating QAF FCs goalkeeper Junaidi Akim with a superb strike just outside the penalty box.

Indera got off to a strong start by opening the scoring early in the 11th minute when Mohammad Khayrun Salleh netted from inside the penalty box after latching onto a great pass from Mohd Nur Ikhwan Othman.

But QAF FC replied 14 minutes later when Petrus beat the offside trap before blasting the ball past Indera's goalkeeper Mohd Norul Zulhilmi Mustapa.

The second half saw QAF FC come out in determined fashion, and they got ahead when Adie Arsham scored on the counter attack after sending Mohd Norul Zulhilmi the wrong direction with a scuffed shot.?

Junaidi would pull off a fantastic save from Reduan Hj Petara in the 82nd minute after the defender's header from inside the box looked goal-bound after a corner-kick.

Indera went all-out in search of the equaliser but QAF FC, playing in a 4-5-1 formation, were able to keep a tight hold of midfield to deny them an opportunity up until injury time.

QAF FC were made to pay when they were unable to clear a cross which fell to the unmarked Mohammad Aqmal Hakeem, who was given plenty of space to fire a shot. Indera's coach, though, felt they should have wrapped up the game earlier.

"We could have won the game by four to five goals," claimed Indera SC coach Ishak Hj Kabon.

"We had a lot of chances in the game and the players just could not finish.

"Credit to QAF FC too, they defended very well today (and) their goalkeeper pulled off a couple of good saves.

"If we played throughout the game the way we played in the final 10 minutes, we could have condemned QAF FC and finished the game early."

"We need to work on this problem and change our attitude in the game," he added.
