Perfect ten for armymen FOOTBALL

MOHAMMAD Hardi Hj Matassan scored a hat-trick in MS ABDB's 10-1 thrashing of lowly Perda in their DST National Football League finale last night at the Berakas Sports Complex.

The win moves MS ABDB to the top of the Group C with 17 points, two points above Indera SC who still have a game in hand.

The armymen found the net early in the 19th minute, Mohammad Hardi connecting from a great pass from the midfielder before slotting the ball into the back of the net.

Hj Md Yusof Hj Matyassin added the second in the 26th minute before Mohammad Amir Ajmal Md Tahir made it 3-0 just past the half-hour mark.

Mohammad Hardi added his second of the night six minutes later, taking advantage of poor defending to blast the ball past the helpless goalkeeper.

Centre back Md Hazmi Zolkipli scored a header in the 42nd minute after connecting from a corner kick to give MS ABDB the 5-0 lead heading into the second half.

The 48th minute saw the best goal of the match when Dahari Hj Md Yussof's thirty-metre strike from a free-kick found the back of the net, eluding the reach of goalkeeper Md Hamdillah Ramlee.

Budiman Jumat made it 7-0 from the penalty spot in the 51st minute after Ak Md Safri Pg Hj Othman was brought down inside the box.

Md Nabil Hj Md Sufian fired in Perda's only goal of the night in the 56th minute but it did nothing to boost the morale of the team.

Mohammad Hardi completed his hat-trick in the 69th minute with a solo effort bursting past defenders before firing the ball between the goalkeeper's legs to make it 8-1

Dahari made it 9-1 with a powerful strike past the goalkeeper in the 90th minute and a through ball which eluded the Perda's defence saw Md Zainal Mari added the tenth in the 93rd minute to seal the win for MS ABDB.

"We are happy with the result tonight, it is a must win game for us. We will qualify to the Super League and now the focus is on the Brunei FA Cup," said MS ABDB assistant manager Khalid Hj Bujang.

"We hope to retain all the players that we currently have for the Brunei FA Cup and will be adding another two players in the squad," he said.

Group D saw Wijaya FC beat RBA FC 7-0 while Setia Perdana FC demolished Youngsters FC 16-2 in group A.
