FOOTBALL Can MIISA United get their revenge?

Friday, July 6, 2012

FOOTBALL fans are in for a treat today as MIISA United lace up for their Brunei FA Cup match against Najip FC at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas at 4pm.

MIISA United will be looking to avenge their one-sided 6-2 defeat to today's opponents during their DST National Football League campaign in January.

"There is a 50-50 chance. We do not know the outcome yet but I am very confident with my current squad. We are eyeing a win against Najip FC this time around," said MIISA United assistant manager Hj Yusof Mohammad when asked about their chances.

"We will have to be extra careful with their long ball and crosses. We must defend well and (go on the offensive) with counter-attacks.

"Najip FC defeated us in the national league. We lost 6-2 in the tournament, the defence was the problem last time and the goalkeeper that we had was not the tallest in the squad," said Hj Yusof.

"Najip FC kept throwing long balls into the penalty area and our goalkeeper and defender could not deal with it... and we conceded six goals in the game," he said.

The assistant manager also revealed that there will be new faces in MIISA United starting line-up today.

"Almost half of the squad are new faces and most of them are young. We have recruited new defenders and a new goalkeeper for this Brunei FA Cup tournament. I would like to give these young players an opportunity to experience competitive football while exposing them to national football tournaments," he said.

The other match will see Perda FC go up against Sewira FC at the Berakas Sports Complex at 8.15pm.
