ROYAL Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) kept their DST Super League title hopes alive with a slim 2-1 victory over Kilanas FC.

Mohd Khairuddin Abdul Kadir and Mohd Baharin Hamidon scored for MS ABDB in the victory at the Berakas Sports Complex last night.

Following the withdrawal of Majra United from the league, the new updated table by the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam has Indera Sports Club (SC) still topping the now nine-team league table with 34 points after 12 matches with four games remaining.

Meanwhile, MS ABDB now recorded 28 points from 13 matches with only three games left to play.

In an interview with The Brunei Times last night, MS ABDB manager Major (A) Pg Muhd Mufid Pg Hj Umar Ariffin said they will fight until the very end for the title this season.

“We have three matches left in the league and we must win all the games, then we will see how Indera’s progress in their remaining matches,” he said after the match.

“We will face LLRC FT (Liang Lumut Recreational Club Football Team) next, then we will play Najip FC and we will face Indera in our final game,”

“What we need to do now is to keep focus on winning in every game and at the same time keeping pace with Indera,” he added.

Mohd Khairuddin got the armymen in front in the 41st minute when he was sent through inside the penalty box with a beautiful through pass by midfielder Mohd Mazazizi Mazlan.

Mohd Baharin increased the lead in 62nd minute with a strong header following a corner-kick from the right.

Captain Ak Mohd Safri Pg Othman almost made it 3-0 with a powerful freekick from 20 metres out but goalkeeper Abdul Rahman Hazmiw Hayat rescued Kilanas with a fingertip save.

Mohd Nuralifullah Hj Zaini would pull one goal back for Kilanas in the 81st minute, but MS ABDB had all their players in their own half to defend their 2-1 lead until the final whistle.

Indera was supposed to see action against QAF FC at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas last night, but the match was postponed to a later date.

According to a statement from officials, the date for the match will be announced by the NFABD in due time.
