Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) are keen to defend
their DST FA Cup crown once again after last month’s draw pitted the
army men against Wijaya FC in their first match on Dec 4.
MS ABDB successfully defended their DST FA Cup title after beating Najip FC 2-0 earlier this year and their interim manager, Major (A) Razanol Hardi Abd Razak, is looking to secure a double this season.
MS ABDB clinched the DST Super League title for the first time after crushing bottom dwellers Kilanas FC 6-1 last month, and with 48 points, now have an insurmountable 13-point lead over two-time defending champions Indera Sports Club – who are second with 35 points.
“We are looking to defend our FA Cup title once again and the pressure is there, especially since we won our first DST Super League title,” said Major (A) Razanol.
“The FA Cup will be tougher this time… Overall, we believe all teams will give us a challenge and we cannot be complacent.
“We treat every match as a final,” he added.
Major (A) Razanol also praised Kota Rangers FC – who they might face if they overcome Wijaya – saying that the army men will need to revise their tactics against the DST Premier League champions.
MS ABDB beat newly-promoted Lun Bawang 4-1 on Sunday and will go up against Indera in the DST Super League’s finale at the end of the month.
“We will bring our A-game against Indera and I hope we can finish this season with another solid victory,” he said.
“Our only loss was against Jerudong FC in the first round and we have an unbeaten record going in the second round, and we intend to keep it that way.
“But this is football and anything can happen.
“For now, we will focus on our training and we’ll see how we do,” he added.
Meanwhile, Wijaya will face Indera in a DST Super League match at the Tutong Sports Complex at 8.15pm tomorrow.
