FORMER two-time DST Super League champions Indera SC (Sports Club) sent a message to this season’s DST Super League title contenders after crushing hapless Jerudong FC 7-0 last night in their season opening match last night.

Indera broke the deadlock early in just a minute into the game after Muis Sisa’s shot deflected from Jerudong’s goalkeeper Mohd Shopian Mat Said – who failed to contain the shot at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

Jerudong FC refused to falter despite trailing 1-0, as their play-maker Sufri Mohaimin attempted to score before being denied by Indera’s goalkeeper, Ak Omar Nur Aqammaddin Pg Hj Sallehuddin.
Indera doubled their advantage after Muis scored his bracer of the night sliding past Jerudong’s defenders in the 14th minute.

Four minutes later, Indera’s Hamizan Aziz Sulaiman toyed with Jerudong’s abysmal defence as they made it 3-0 after his shot went through.

Jerudong stood no chance to Indera’s rain of shots as they made it 4-0 in the 34th minute after Hamizan Aziz’s second goal of the night found its way into Jerudong’s net.

Hamizan Aziz sealed a hat-trick and added goal number five in the 45th minute against Jerudong’s already beaten spirit just before the half time whistle.

Second half saw a more confident Jerudong FC despite trailing 5-0, however Indera proved themselves too strong as Safwan Amaluddin Sabli got his name on the scoresheet in the 56th minute making it 6-0.

Indera showed no mercy as they made it into seventh heaven after Hamizan Aziz sealed his fourth and last goal of the night in the 64th minute.

Indera head coach Hj Omar Hj Jamil was delighted with the win, however insisted that it is too early to determine their new season’s expectations.

“7-0 is a solid win and yes it does send a message to title contenders that we are serious,” said Hj Omar in a post-match interview with The Brunei Times.

Meanwhile, Tabuan Muda (national under-23 team) thrashed newly-promoted Kota Ranger FC at the Berakas Sports Complex 5-1 last night. Kota Ranger were crowned champions of last year’s DST Premier League, ending the season with unbeaten record of nine wins and one draw to earn their spot in the elite DST Super League.
