THE Royal Brunei Armed Forces' Sports Council (MS ABDB) overcame a slow start to shoot down Rimba Star FC 4-0 in their third match of the DST National Football League at the Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium, Berakas, yesterday

Mohammad Amir Ajmal Mohammad Tahir, Md Haizul Rani, Ak Md Safri Pg Hj Othman and Hj Md Yussof Hj Mat Yassin scored a goal each for the armymen's victory that move MS ABDB to the top of group C.

It was a less convincing win for the MS ABDB despite the comfortable 4-0 scoreline, according to MS ABDB assistant manager Khalid Hj Bujang.

"It was not the game that we were hoping for... we created a lot of chances, the opponent played defensively in the game, so it was a bit difficult, anyway it's a good result for us," he said.

The victory also brings much relief to MS ABDB, whom Khalid reveals are having problems with keeping possession of the ball throughout the game.

"Some of the players are still not comfortable with holding the ball, and they have yet to gel in their passes. Next we will be playing against Sri Sentosa, we hope to win the game," Khalid added.

MS ABDB started the match off strongly but were unable to penetrate Rimba Star's defence, who crowded their own territory to limit the leeway for the armymen to shoot on goal.

However, as the period went on, Mohammad Amir Ajmal opened the scoring for MS ABDB, running through one-on-one against goalkeeper Abd Rahim Awang Tengah before slotting the ball at the bottom corner of the goal in the 13th minute.

Mohammad Haizul Rani added second on the 27th minute with a solo effort from the left side of the field, beating two defenders before firing the shot past the goalkeeper to march into the second half with a 2-0 lead.

Second half started in the same manner as the first half as MS ABDB continue to dominate the game. Their effort were paid off when Ak Md Safri drilled the ball over Rimba Star goalkeeper inside the penalty box in the 61st minute. Hj Md Yussof Hj Mat Yassin scored the fourth in the 71th minute to give MS ABDB their second wins in three matches.

Another match saw Lun Bawang drew with Muara Vella 2-2.

The other two matches, kicked-off at 8.15 last night, saw Menglait FC defeating Besa FC 4-1.

Meanwhile, LRRC FT continued their record winning show — their fourth games — defeating Setia Perdana 4-2.
