LIANG Lumut Recreational Club Football Team (LLRC FT) came from one
goal down to beat Wijaya FC 4-1 in last night's DST Super League action.
Zulkefly Duraman handed Wijaya FC a first-half lead but LLRC responded through Mohd Helmie Mohd Noorazmi just before the half-time break at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.
LLRC turned on the style in the second half as Mohd Helmie found the net again after the restart, and goals from Ak Mohd Azrul Ariffin Pg Matussin and Safuan Juhar provided LLRC with the perfect win following a recent slump in form though they are still fifth in the 10-team table.
"The first fifteen minutes was a bit difficult for us," said coach Hj Affandi Hj Julaihi in an interview with The Brunei Times last night.
"Wijaya played very well and we found it difficult to read their movement in the game. But we slowly got back into the game and managed to find the equaliser just before the half-time break.
"In the second-half we changed our formation from 4-3-3 to 3-5-2 and we brought in striker Hafiz for defender Ahmad Jazmi to focus on attack.
"We managed to score four goals tonight and it is a valuable three points for us.
"We will be playing against Royal Brunei Police Forces Sports Council (MS PDB) next week... It will be a tough match, but we will work hard to get another three points.
"It was a very good team performance tonight and all the players work very hard to get the three points," he added.
Referee Omar Abdullah awarded Wijaya a penalty in the 36th minute after Ak Abd Faiz Fadhullah Pg Zaidi's handball, and Zulkefly stepped up to convert the penalty to give Wijaya a 1-0 lead.
Mohd Helmie made it 1-1 in the 45th minute when he headed home Amy Amizan Gudang's cross.
The second half resumed with LLRC pressing hard to find the net with numerous counter-attacking chances from long balls and crosses.
Mohd Helmie scored his second when he tapped in Mohd Amirul Hamrey Norshaney's cross four minutes after the restart.
Ak Mohd Azrul Ariffin lobbed the ball over Wijaya's goalkeeper in the 71st minute before Safuan made it 4-1 two minutes later.
Indera have the chance to top the table when they take on basement dwellers Najip FC at the Balapan Track and Field at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas tonight.
Kick off is at 8:15pm.
